Mobile Winterm™ Model 3820TX Users Guide The Winterm 3820TX is the newest wireless t ablet thin client in the Winterm 3000 Series family of terminals.

3 Introducing the 3820TX T ablet Thin Client 3820TX T ablet Thin Client Overview The 3820TX t ablet thin client is a lightweight t a blet that allows you to ac cess server or Internet based applications. 7 3820TX T ablet Thin Client Software The 3820TX t ablet thin client comes pre-load ed with the following client and appli cation software: • Microsoft Windows CE 3.0 for the 3820TX tablet thin client. The Windows CE 3.0 operating system st arts automatically when 3820TX t ablet thin client is turned on.
8 Getting S t arted This section provides information to help yo u set up and begin using your 3820TX t ablet thin client. Charging the Battery The battery in your 3820TX ta blet requires charging before usage. The battery will charge to greater than 90% in less than 90 minutes making yo ur mobile thin client available for use.
9 Keep your 3820TX t ablet connected to the power ada pter when not in use. Doing so maintains the battery charg e and ensures th at programs and file s located in Random Access Memory remain when the unit is powered off.
10 T o perform a Soft Reset , press the Suspen d/Restart button while the unit is powered-on, and continue to hold the Suspe nd/Restart button until the unit powers of f.
11 • T o move the keyboard to another location on th e 3820TX t ablet thin client screen, po int and drag the title bar of the keyboard . • T o resize the keyboard, point to any corner to expand or contra ct the keyboard. Note The International keyboa rd is available in o nly two sizes.
12 Figure 6 IP Address Figure 7 Name Server Connecting to a Wireless Access Point A wireless access point act s as a wireless LAN transceiver and links the wireless 3820TX tablet thin client wi th the wired network, providing mobile access to all your computing resources.
13 Configuring Networ k Identification In some installations, networ k permissions may be requir ed to access network resources. Once this network info rmation is configured and if you have the proper permissions, you can access resources on the networ k (for exam ple, network printe rs) or other computers using 3820TX tab let thin client.
14 Completing the Netw ork Setup T o activate the network settings that you ha ve entered, pull the PCMCIA network card out of its slot and re-insert it. V erifying the Network Connection In general, you can verify that your networ k connections have been proper ly configured by opening the Internet Explorer browser and verifying a web co nnection.

16 Date and Time Settings Y ou can establish the ti me and date for the 382 0TX t ablet thin client by accessing the Date/T ime applet in the control panel and completing the following procedur es: 1. Double-tap the Date /Time icon to op en the properties sheet.

19 Power Settings Y ou can check the battery charge on the 3820TX t ablet thin client or to set the idle shut off timer by completing the following pro cedures: 1. Double-tap the Power Properties icon to open the pr operties sheet. 2. The battery status is shown on the Battery t ab.

21 System Settings This control pa nel applet allows the user to see the config uration of the 3820T X tablet thin client as well as to change the way the internal memory is allocated and us ed. Changing of the memory allocations should on ly be done with specific knowledge of the re quired program and storage re quirement s.
