2 REMO VE OLD THERMOST A T 1. Shut off electricity at the main fuse box until installation is complete. Ensure that electrical power is disconnected. 2. Remov e the front cov er of the old thermostat. With wires still attached , remov e wall plate from the w all.
3 INST ALLA TION install fresh “AA” alkaline batteries immediately . For best results, use ne w premium brand alkaline batteries such as Duracell® or Energizer®.

5 The confi guration menu allo ws you to set certain ther mostat operating characteristics to your system or personal requirements. T o enter the menu: Set your thermostat to OFF and press the and b uttons simultaneously . The display will show the fi rst item in the confi guration menu.
6 Emergency System EMER bypasses the Heat Pump to use the heat source wired to terminal W2 on the ther mostat. EMER is typically used when compressor operation is not desired, or y ou prefer bac k-up heat only . 1. Mo ve SYSTEM s witch to EMER position, EMER will fl ash on the displa y .
7 Do not allow the compressor to run unless the compressor oil heaters ha ve been operational for 6 hours and the system has not been operational f or at least 5 minutes. CA UTION ! MANU AL OPERA TION • HOLD TEMPERA TURE — With the SYSTEM s witch set to HEA T or COOL , momentarily press R UN/HOLD button.
8 PR OGRAMMING Enter Heating Program 1. Mov e the SYSTEM switch to HEA T . 2. Press PRGM once. “Mo T u We Th Fr” (indicating weekda y program) will appear in the displa y . Also displa yed are the currently programmed start time for the 1st heating period and the currently programmed temper ature (fl ashing).
9 TR OUBLESHOO TING Reset Operation If a voltage spik e or static discharge blanks out the displa y or causes erratic thermostat operation, reset the ther mostat by pressing the , and PRGM buttons sim ultaneously .
10 ST A GING Second Stage - A uxiliary Heat Most heat pump systems hav e an A uxiliar y or Second Stage electric heater or gas fur nace. Heat produced by a heat pump is economical but ma y not alwa ys ha ve the capacity to maintain a comf or table room temperature setting.
