7 Figure 4 A TT ACHING THE CLUTCH CABLE Attach the c lutch cab le to the handle as follows (be careful not to k ink the cable). • Remove thr eaded eyebol t and nut from the end of the cabl e. • Route th e clutch ca ble to the right si de of the handle moun ting brac kets and und erneath the handle.
8 Now move the shift lever to FORWA RD (Wheels Forward) position . Carefully engage the clu tch by lifting the clutch control ba il against the ha ndle.
9 CLUTCH CONTROL BAIL The clut ch control bai l is loca ted below t he handle. Se e Figure 7. Lifting the c lutch con trol bail ag ainst the handle e ngages the wheel and tine drive me chani sms. NOTE: Never enga ge clutch l ever while sh ifting. DEPTH ST AKE The depth ba r controls the til ling depth .

11 • Remove the belt cover as des cribed in the belt replaceme nt secti on on page 12. • Remove the hai rpin clip and sp ring washer from the idler pul ley rod. See Figure 11. • Move the id ler pull ey rod to the lo wer hole in th e idler br acket.
12 CLEAN ING THE T INE AREA Clean the unde rside of the tine shield afte r each use. The dirt wash es off the tines eas ier if washed off immed iately in stead of after it dries. We do not rec ommend the use of pr essure was hers to clean you r unit. The y may cause da mage to el ectric compo nents, s pindles, pulley s, bearings , or th e engine.
13 SECTION 9: OFF-SEASON STORAGE If the tiller wil l not be used for a per iod longe r than 30 days, the following steps sh ould be tak en to prepar e the tiller for s torage. • Clean t he exter ior of e ngine an d the e ntire ti ller thorough ly.
