3 SECTION 1: IMPORTANT SAFE OPERATION PRACTICES This symb ol poin ts out impor tant safety instruc tions whic h, if not follo wed, could end anger the pe rsonal safety and /or proper ty of yourse lf and oth ers. Read and follow all in stru ctions in this manual before attempt ing to operat e your lawn mower.
4 • The blade c ontrol handle is a saf ety device. Never attempt to bypass its operation. Doing so m akes the safety device ino perative and may result in personal injury through contact with the rotating blade. The blade co ntrol handle must operate easily in both direct ions and automatically return to the disengaged posi tion when released.
5 • To reduce fire ha zard, keep mower free of grass, leaves, or other debris build-up. Clean up oil or fuel spillage. Allow mo wer to cool at least 5 minutes before storing. • Before clean ing, repairing, or inspec ting, make certain the blade an d all moving parts have stopped.

7 SECTION 3: UNPACKING Removing Unit From Car ton • Remove s taples, break glue on top flap s, or cut tape at cart on end and pe el along top fl ap to open carton. • Remove lo ose parts if include d with unit (i .e., operator ’ s manual, etc.) .

11 SECTION 8: SERVICE WARNING: Always stop engine and disconnect spark plug wire before cleaning, lubricating or doing any kind of work on lawn mower. Blade Control Lubricate the pivot point s on the blade c ontrol han dle and t he brake cable at least on ce a seaso n with l ight oil.
12 • Before reinstal ling the blade and t he blade adap ter to t he un it, lu bric ate th e eng ine cr anksha ft a nd the inner su rface of the bl ade adap ter with light oi l (or engine o il). L ubricating the bolt hol es, bol ts and inner su rface of the nuts is al so recom mended .
