6 COOKTOP USE Cooktop/Ov en T emperature Contr ols Electri c ignite rs automatic ally li ght the surface bu rners when control knobs are turned to LITE. Before setting a contr ol knob, place filled cookware on the grate. Do not operate a burn er using empty cookware or wi thout cookware on the grate.
7 T o Clea n: IMPORT ANT : Before clean ing, make sure all con trols are of f and the oven and cooktop are cool. Do not use oven cleaners, bleach or rust r emovers. 1. Remove the surface bur ner grate s. 2. Remove bur ner cap from th e burn er base and clean according to “General Cleaning” sect ion.
8 O VE N U S E Odors and s moke are normal when the oven is u sed the firs t few times, or when it is heavily s oiled. IMPORT ANT : The healt h of some b irds is ex tremely sensi tive to the fumes given off. Exp osur e to t he fumes m ay res ult in death to certain birds.
9 Baking and Roasting Do not place food or cookwar e directly on t he oven door or the oven bottom. Before baking and roasting, posi tion the racks according to the “Positioning Racks and B akeware” section. When roasting, it is not necessary to wait for the oven to preheat before putting food in, unles s re comm ended in th e r ecipe.
10 RANGE CARE Remo ving the Oven Bottom The oven bot tom can be removed for st andard cleaning of the oven. Before cleaning, make sure the oven i s completely cool . T o R emove: 1. Remove the oven racks. 2. Place f ingers in the slots in th e botto m panel.
