6 COOKTOP USE Cooktop/Ov en T emperature Cont r ols Electric ign iters au tomatically light the surfac e burn ers when control knobs are turned t o LITE. Before setting a control knob, p lace filled cookware on the grat e. Do not operate a bur ner using empty cookware or without cookware on th e grate.
7 Surf ace Bur ners IMPORT AN T : Do not obstruct the flow of combustion and ventilat ion air around the bur ner grate edge s. Burner cap: Always keep the bur ner cap in place w hen using a surface bur ner . A clean bur ner cap will help pr event poor ign ition and uneven flames.
8 O V EN USE Odors and smoke are normal when the oven is u sed the first few times, or when it is hea vily so iled. IMPORT AN T : The health of some birds is extremely sensi tive to the f umes gi ven off . Expo sur e to t he fu mes m ay r esult in dea th to certain birds.
9 BAKEWARE T o cook food evenly , hot air must be able to cir culat e. Allow 2 in. (5 cm) of space a r ound bakeware and oven wal ls. Use the following chart as a guid e. Use tongs to turn food to avoid the loss of juices. Very thin cuts of fish, poultr y or meat may not need to be tur ned.
