9 W ater System Preparation (on some models) Please read before using the water s y stem. Immediately after installation, follow the steps below to make sure that the water system is properly cleaned. 1. T ur n of f the ice maker by opening the freezer door and lifting up the wi re shut-of f arm as shown.
10 Do not block any of these vents with food such as soda, cer eal, bread, etc. If the vents are b locked, airflow wil l be prevented and the tempe ratur e contr ols wil l not f unctio n pr operly . IMPORT AN T : Because air circulates be tween both sections, any odors formed in one section will tran sfer to the other .
11 W a t er and Ice Dispensers (on some models) Depending on your model, you may hav e one or more of the following options: the abi lity to select either crush ed or cubed ice, a sp ecial light that turns on when you use the di spenser , or a lock option to avoi d accidental dis pensing.
12 Interior W ater Fil tration System (on some models) The interior water filt er cartridge is located in the uppe r cor ner of the fresh food compartment of the re frigerat or . The interior water filter cartr idge should be replaced every six months or earlier if the flow of water to your water di spenser or ice maker decreases noticeab ly .
13 REMEMBER: ■ Allow 24 hours t o produ ce the fir s t batch of ice. ■ Discard the first three batches of ice produced to avoi d impurities that may be flushed out of the system. ■ The quality of your ice will be only as good as the quality of the water s upplied to yo ur ice maker .
14 T o r eplace the shelf: NOTE : Make sure that both of the rear shelf slides are secu r ely in the track before letting go of the shelf. The l ateral shelf may be difficult to ins t all if the track is placed too close to th e r efrige rator ceiling .
