4 MICROW A VE OVEN SAFETY SA VE THESE INSTRUCTIONS • Do not operate any heating or cooking appliance beneath the microwave oven. • Do not mount microwave oven over or near any portion of a heating or cooking appliance. • Do not mount over a sink.
5 I NST ALLA TION I NSTRUCTIONS Before you begin operating the oven, car efully r ead the following instructions. 1. Empty the microwave oven and clean inside it with a soft, damp cloth. Check for damage such as a door that isn’t lined up corr ectly , damage around the door , or dents inside the oven or on the exterior .
6 INST ALLA TION INSTRUCTIONS E LECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS ( CONT . ) GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS • For all cord connected appliances: The microwave oven must be gr ounded. In the event of an electrical short circuit, gr ounding reduces the risk of electric shock by pr oviding an escape wire for the electric curr ent.

8 GETTING TO KNOW Y OUR MICROWA VE OVEN • Never cook or reheat a whole egg inside the shell. Steam buildup in whole eggs may cause them to burst, and possibly damage the oven. Slice hard-boiled eggs befor e heating. In rare cases, poached eggs have been known to explode.

The following is a list of all the Command pads located on the control panel. For more information on these featur es, see “Using Y our Microwave Oven” section.
11 GETTING TO KNOW Y OUR MICROWA VE OVEN 11 U SING OPTIONS Y ou can select or change the following functions or displays by touching OPTIONS: Function Option Sound volume Control volume or turn on/off. W eight Change to standard (lbs) or metric (kgs).
12 GETTING TO KNOW Y OUR MICROWA VE OVEN S ETTING THE CLOCK When you first plug in your microwave oven, the display shows “ : ”. If the electric power ever goes off, the display will again show “ : ” when the power comes back on.
13 C OOKING A T HIGH COOK POWER 1. Put the food in the oven and close the door . 2. T ouch COOK TIME. Display will show “ST AGE 1”. 3. T ouch number pads for desired time. For example, for 10 minutes touch “1 0 0 0” 4. T ouch ST ART . 5. At the end of the cooking time: Display will show “END” and 3 tones will sound.
14 USING YOUR MICROW A VE O VEN C OOKING WITH MORE THAN ONE COOK CYCLE For best results, some r ecipes call for one cook power for a certain length of time, and another cook power for another length of time. Y our oven can be set to change from one power level to another automatically , for up to 3 cycles plus a defrost cycle.
15 USING YOUR MICROW A VE O VEN A UTO COOKING Y ou can automatically pop popcorn, cook or reheat common microwave-pr epared foods just by touching POPCORN, AUTO COOK or AUTO REHEA T . DIRECTIONS • Follow package directions. • Use a popcorn package which is made especially for microwave cooking.
16 USING YOUR MICROW A VE O VEN A UTO COOKING CHARTS ( CONT . ) DIRECTIONS • Arrange food on microwave-safe plate. Place meaty portions and bulky vegetables to outside of plate. • Cover with plastic wrap. • V ent. • After reheating, let stand for 2 minutes.
17 USING YOUR MICROW A VE O VEN U SING AUTO DEFROST Y ou can defrost food by choosing a category and setting a weight. AUTO DEFROST has preset times and cook powers for 3 categories: Meat, Poultry , and Fish. 1. T ouch AUTO DEFROST . Once for Meat, twice for Poultry , three times for Fish.
18 USING YOUR MICROW A VE O VEN U SING JET ST ART Jet Start lets you cook food for 30 seconds at 100% cook power or , during any manual program you can use it to add 30-second increments. NOTES: • Each time you touch JET ST ART , it will add 30 seconds.
19 M ICROW A VE COOKING TIPS C OOKING G UIDE Amount of food • If you increase or decr ease the amount of food you prepar e, the time it takes to cook that food will also change. For example, if you double a recipe, add a little more than half the original cooking time.
20 M ICROW A VE COOKING TIPS ( CONT . ) Using aluminum foil Metal containers should not be used in a microwave oven. There ar e, however , some exceptions. If you have purchased food which is pr epackaged in an aluminum foil container , refer to the instructions on the package.
21 ANSWERS No. If you remove or turn over the turntable, you will get poor cooking results. Dishes used in your oven must fit on the turntable. Y ou can use a rack only if the rack is supplied with your microwave oven. If you use a rack not supplied with the microwave oven, you can get poor cooking performance and/or arcing.
22 If none of these items are causing your pr oblem, see the “Requesting Assistance or Service” section. PROBLEM The microwave oven will not run. Microwave cooking times seem too long. The turntable will not turn. The display shows a time counting down but the oven is not cooking.
