Call an authorized service company for examination, repair , or adjustment. • See door surface cleaning instructions in the “Microwave Oven Care” section.
5 MICROW A VE OVEN SAFETY Observe all governing codes and ordinances. A 120 V olt, 60 Hz, AC only , 15 or 20 amp fused electrical supply is requir ed. (A time-delay fuse is recommended.) It is recommended that a separate cir cuit serving only this appliance be provided.
6 Microwaves pass thr ough most glass, paper , and plastics without heating them so food absorbs the ener gy . Microwaves bounce off metal containers so food does not absorb the ener gy . How your microwave oven works Microwave ener gy is not hot. It causes food to make its own heat, and it’ s this heat that cooks the food.
7 GETTING TO KNOW YOUR MICROW A VE OVEN • When you use a browning dish, the browning dish bottom must be at least 3 ⁄ 16 in. above the turntable. Follow the directions supplied with the br owning dish. • Do not cook or reheat whole eggs or eggs inside the shell.

All you have to do is touch the necessary Command Pad. The following is a list of all the Command and Number Pads located on the control panel.
10 GETTING TO KNOW YOUR MICROW A VE OVEN 4. POPCORN. T ouch this pad to pop popcorn with the SENSOR feature. 5. BAKED POT A TO. T ouch this pad to cook potatoes with the SENSOR feature. 6. PIZZA REHEA T . T ouch this pad to reheat one or several slices of pizza with the SENSOR feature.
Microwave Oven Use This section gives you instructions for operating each function. Please read these instructions carefully . Using the safety lock The safety lock prevents unwanted use of the microwave oven by disabling the control panel Command Pads.
Using the bi-level cooking rack The Bi-Level Cooking Rack gives you extra space when cooking in more than one container at the same time. The metal rack can be turned upside-down to help fit taller containers on the bottom of the oven.
• T o see the time of day while the timer is counting down, touch clock. • If you want to use other command pads while the timer is counting down, touch TIMER OFF to cancel the Minute Timer . 1. T ouch TIMER SET . 2. Enter time to be counted down.
14 MICROW A VE OVEN USE Cooking at different cook powers For best results, some recipes call for different cook powers. The lower the cook power , the slower the cooking.

16 MICROW A VE OVEN USE Weight conversion chart Y ou are pr obably used to food weights as being in pounds and ounces that are fractions of a pound (for example, 4 ounces equals 1 ⁄ 4 pound). However , in order to enter food weight in AUTO DEFROST , you must specify pounds and tenths of a pound.
17 MICROW A VE OVEN USE Defrosting tips • When using AUTO DEFROST , the weight to be entered is the net weight in pounds and tenths of pounds (the weight of the food minus the container).
18 MICROW A VE OVEN USE Using W ARM HOLD (cont.) NOTES: • Opening the oven door cancels WARM HOLD. Close the door and touch WARM HOLD, then touch ST ART/ENTER if additional WARM HOLD time is desir ed. • Food cooked covered should be cover ed during WARM HOLD.
19 MICROW A VE OVEN USE Using SENSOR COOK Using COOK lets you heat common microwave-prepared foods without needing to program times and Cook Powers. COOK has preset Cook Powers for 3 food catego- ries: Number 1 for Frozen Entree, Number 2 for Casserole, or Number 3 for Rice.
20 MICROW A VE OVEN USE Using SENSOR BAKED POT A TO Cooking with BAKED POT A TO lets you bake one or several potatoes by touching one pad. NOTES: • Before baking, pier ce potato with fork several times. Do not cover . • After baking, let stand for 5 minutes.
21 MICROW A VE OVEN USE Using SENSOR VEGET ABLE Cooking with VEGET ABLE lets you heat common microwave-prepared vegetables without needing to program times and Cook Powers. VEGET ABLE has preset cook powers for 3 food categories: Number 1 to select Fresh, Number 2 for Frozen, or Number 3 for Canned.
22 Microwave cooking tips Amount of food • If you increase or decr ease the amount of food you prepar e, the time it takes to cook that food will also change. For example, if you double a recipe, add a little more than half the original cooking time.
23 MICROW A VE OVEN CARE Using aluminum foil Metal containers should not be used in a microwave oven. Ther e are, however , some exceptions. If you have purchased food which is prepackaged in an aluminum foil container , refer to the instructions on the package.
24 Caring for the filters The grease filters should be removed and cleaned often, at least once a month. NOTE: If your microwave hood combination is installed to recirculate air , the charcoal filter (available from your designated service company , Part No.
25 Replacing the cooktop and oven lights The cooktop light 1. Unplug microwave oven or disconnect power . 2. Remove the bulb cover mounting screws. 3. We recommend replacing bulb(s) with candelabra-base 30-watt bulb(s) available from your designated service company , or by calling the Customer Interaction Center at 1-800-253-1301.

27 ANSWERS No. If you remove or turn over the turntable, you will get poor cooking results. Dishes used in your oven must fit on the turntable. Y ou can use a rack only if the rack is supplied with your microwave oven. If you use a rack not supplied with the microwave oven, you can get poor cooking performance and/or arcing.
28 If none of these items is causing your problem, see the “Assistance or Service” section. Problem The microwave oven will not run. Microwave cooking times seem too long. The turntable will not turn. The display shows a time counting down but the oven is not cooking.
