3 RANGE SAFETY The Anti-Tip Br acket The range will not tip during n ormal use. However , the range can tip if yo u apply too mu ch for ce or weight t o the open door without the anti-tip bracket fastened down properly . You can be killed or seriously injured if you don't immediately follow instructions.

7 COOKTOP USE Cooktop C ontr ols The control knobs can be se t anyw here between HI and LO. Push in and turn to setting. The surface cooking ar ea locator shows which ele ment is tu rned on . Use the followin g chart as a guide when se tting he at lev els.
8 Hot Surface Indicator Light (under ceramic glass) The hot surface indic ator light will glow as long as any surf ace cooking area is too hot to touch , even after the s urface cooking area(s) are turned off. Coil El ement s and Burne r Bo wls (on som e m odels) Coil elements should be level for optimal cooking r esults.
9 Home Canning When canning for l ong periods, al ter nate th e use of surface cooking areas, elements or su rface bur ners betw een batches. This allows ti me for the most recently u sed areas to cool. ■ Center the canne r on the grate or largest surface cooki ng area or element.

11 Cont ro l L ock The Control Loc k shuts dow n the control panel pads to prevent unintended use of the ove n. When the contr ol is lo cked , only the CLOC K and TIM ER p ads w ill function. T o Lock/Unlock Control: Befor e locking, make sure the oven and Timer are off.
12 Bakeware Hot air must be able t o circulate around food to cook evenly , so allow 2 in . (5 cm) of sp ace around bakew are and oven wall s. Use the following c hart as a guide. 13 OVEN USE Baking and Roasting Before baking an d roasting, posi tion racks according to the “ Positioning Racks an d Bakeware ” section . When roasti ng, it is not necessary to wait for the ov en preheat conditi oning time t o end before puttin g food in unles s recommended in the recipe.
14 BROILING CHART For best res ults, place food 3 in. (7 cm) or mor e from the broil element. Time s are guideline s only and ma y need to be ad justed for individual foods and t astes. Recommen ded rack pos itions are numbered from the bottom (1) to the top (5).
