Introduction Package Contents Thank you for purchasing the Belkin Components Bitronics DataSwitch Kit! Finally, you can share parallel-port devices and printers like never before. Because it’s electronic, its completely safe for all printers and does not void your printer’s warranty.
The Bitronics DataSwitch has two buttons on top shaped like arrows. When depressed, these buttons instantly “connect” the middle DB25 port (common) to the port adjacent to the button. An LED next to the button indicates which port is currently active.
Notice for Plug-and-Play Device Users Plug-and-Play is a new technology that allows the operating system to automatically recognize a device when the system boots up. However, if the Plug-and-Play device is connected to the F1U123, it must be “connected” to the PC when booting up for the operating system to r ecognize it.
A Cables • Make sure you are NOT using file-transfer cables. Special cables used in DOS Interlink ™ , LapLink ® , or Win95 Direct Cable Connection file-transfer cables are not wired “straight-through”. In these cables, not all the pins are used, therefore they will not function at all.
B. Application Errors • Check that the proper port is selected. T o achieve a link between the PC and the device, the LED of the correct port must be illuminated. • Connect the devices directly to the PC. If the device does not properly respond when connected directly to the PC, the device may be damaged, not the F1U123 switch.
