1 I NSTALLATION This chapter con tains an overview of IP T elephony Manager and install ation proced ures for UNIX. This chapter con tains the following topics : ■ Overview ■ Management W orkstati.
18 C HAPTER 1: I NSTALLATION The management st ation uses Management Infor mation Bases (MIBs) , defined for each car d in the hub, to issue commands to the NMC. The NMC executes the command s and obtains the resul ts using a pr oprietary CommWorks prot ocol.
Before Yo u Begin 19 T able 6 lists the softwar e requir ements needed to achie ve the best performance fr om IP T elephony Manager . If you a re installi ng HP OpenVi ew for the f irst time, temporarily disable autodiscove r y . Do not all ow OpenView to discover the devices on your network automat ically .
20 C HAPTER 1: I NSTALLATION If you are using HP OpenView , you must ins tall it befor e you install IP T elephony Manager . If not, HP OpenV i ew does not integr ate correctly . Make sure IP T elephony Manager and HP OpenView are i nstalled on the same system.
