4 14 Completing the First-Time Setup The first time y ou turn on the TV , the Setup App will guide you thr ough each of the st eps necessar y to get y our TV ready f or use. Bef or e y ou begin the first-time setup: • Y our TV should be installed and the po wer cor d should be connect ed t o an electrical outlet.
5 15 Using the On-Screen Menu Y our TV featur es an easy-t o-use on-scr een menu. T o open the on-scr een menu, pr ess the MENU butt on on the r emot e.
5 16 CHANGING THE INPUT SOURCE Ext ernal devices such as D VD players , Blu-Ray Play ers, and video game consoles can be connect ed t o your TV . T o use one of these devices with y our TV , you must first c hange the input sour ce in the on-scr een men u.
5 17 SETTING UP CLOSED CAPTIONING Y our TV can display closed captions for pr ogr ams that include them. Closed captions display a tr anscription of a pr ogr am’ s dialogue. If the pr ogr am you ar e vie wing is not being br oadcast with closed captions, the TV will not display them.
5 18 ACTIVATING THE SLEEP TIMER When activ at ed, the TV’ s sleep timer will turn the TV of f aft er a set period of time. T o use the sleep timer: 1 . Pr ess the MENU butt on on the r emot e. The on-scr een menu is display ed. 2 . Use the Arr ow butt ons on the r emot e t o highlight the Sleep Timer icon and pr ess OK .

5 20 • Ambient Light Sensor - The ambient light sensor det ects the light lev els in the r oom and automatically adjusts the backlight f or the best pictur e. Select Off , Lo w , Medium, or High. 4 . When y ou hav e finished adjusting the Advanced Pictur e Settings, press the EXIT butt on on the remot e.
5 21 Adjusting the Pictur e Size and Position When displaying an image fr om the HDMI or RGB input, the size and position of the display image can be adjust ed. T o adjust the pictur e size and position: 1 . Ensur e the input is set t o HDMI or RGB . 2 .

5 25 Adding New Channels Occasionally , you may need t o add a new analog channel or add a new r ange of channels. Y ou can do this by using the P ar tial Channel Sear ch and Add Analog Channel options. T o add a r ange of new channels: 1 . Fr om the T uner menu, highlight Partial Channel Search .
5 26 Skipping Channels Aft er a channel scan is complet ed, you ma y find that some channels ar e t oo w eak t o watch comf ortably . There ma y also be some channels y ou do not want t o view . Y ou can r emov e these channels fr om the TV’ s memor y with the Skip Channel featur e.
5 27 Using the Par ent al Contr ols The TV’ s parent al contr ols allow y ou t o pr e vent the TV fr om displaying certain channels or pr ogr ams without a passw or d. Accessing the Par ent al Contr ols Menu T o access the Par ent al Contr ols menu: 1 .
5 28 Blocking and Unblocking Cont ent by Rating A channel may sometimes br oadcast pr ogr ams that ar e meant f or childr en, and at other times br oadcast pr ogr ams that ar e meant f or matur e audiences. Y ou may not want t o block the channel complet ely using a channel lock, but you may wish t o block certain pr ogr ams fr om being view ed.
5 29 Changing the Names of the Inputs T o mak e it easier to r ecognize the dif fer ent devices att ached t o the inputs on y our TV , you can r ename the inputs. For e xample , if y ou hav e a DVD pla yer connect ed to the Component input, you can r ename that input t o display “DVD Play er”.
