Insert the Secure Digital memory ca rd with the notc hed corner fa cing the inside edge of the camera. 2. Close the batter y/memor y card cover . ■ If you have difficulty closing the cover , ensure that the memory card is installed corr e ctly .
G ETTING R EADY TO T AKE P ICTURES 11 S ET THE D ATE AN D T IME When you transfer a photo to a computer or print a photo, the time and date th e photo was taken are shown. T o se t th e d ispla y st y le: 1. Rotate the Mode dial to Se t Up . 2. Pr ess the On/Off button, located on the back of the camera, to turn the camera on .

G ETTING R EADY TO T AKE P ICTURES 13 3. Us e the Up or Down buttons to set the correct hour (using a 24-hour cl ock). Whe n finished , press the Copy b utton to move to the minutes area. 4. Repeat the procedure in S tep 3 to set the minutes, year , month, and day .

Us e the Down button to select Langu age , and then press the Display button. 4. Us e the Up and Down buttons to select a language, and then press the Display button to save the change.
T AKING P ICTURES 15 T AKING P ICTURES Y ou are now r eady to take a picture. F or basic point-and-clic k pictur e taking, use the Sn apshot mode desc ribed belo w . T o custom ize settings or use different mode s, see “Explo ring Y our Camera ’ s F eatures ” on page 19.

R EVIEWING AND D ELETING P ICTURES 17 R EVIEWING AND D ELETING P ICTURES After you take a picture, you can immedi ately review the results. Y ou can then keep or discard the picture. T o re view pictu res: 1. Rotate the Mode dial to Playback and turn the camera on.

Up Bu t to n : Increases the camera l ens ’ exposure value, wh ich allows more light into the lens. Down Butt on : Decr eases the camera l ens ’ exposure value, which allow s less light in the lens.

When you turn the M ode dial to Set U p, the fo llowing menu displays on the LCD. Each menu option is desc ribed be low . Delete All: This option is used to delete all images from the internal memor y or the Secure Digital card.

T HE LCD 35 W HITE B ALANCE S ETTING Indicates the current W hite Balance (WB) setti ng. If there is no setting indicated , the camera is set to automati cally determine the appropriate wh ite balance. Daylight: F or taking pictures in br ight daylight, to r educe the ef fect of w hitewashe d pict ures.

This is a one-time pr ocedure that installs the TW AIN drive rs and util ity pr ogram that allow your ca mera to communi cate with your computer via the USB cable.

T urn on the camera. 3. Y our computer d etects the connection to the camera and initiate s install ation of t he new har dware.
