26 English Indicators The computer has serveral easy-to-read status indicators: The front panel indicators are visible even when the co mputer cover is closed up. Icon Function Description Caps Lock Lights up when Caps Lock is activated. Num Lock Lights up when Num Lock is activated.

28 English Touchpad The built-in touchpad is a pointing device that sen ses movement on its surface. This means the cursor respon ds as you move your finger across the surface of the touchpad. The central location on the palmrest provides optimum comfo rt and support.
29 English Note: When using the touchpad, keep it — and your fingers — dry and clean. The touchpad is sensitive to finger movement; hence, the lighter the touch, the better the response. Tapping harder will not increase the touchpad's responsiveness.
30 English Using the keyboard The keyboard has full-sized keys and a n embedded numeric keypad, separate cursor, lock, Windows, functi on and special keys. Lock keys and embedded numeric keypad The keyboard has three lock keys which you can toggle on and off.

39 English Connecting the phon e to your notebook The Acer VCM Bluetooth Head set Connection Center is a conv enient tool to connect the phone to your notebook. To connect the phone to yo ur notebook: 1. Eject the phone from the PC Card sl ot, if necessary, then press the phone power button for three se conds.
40 English Note: Click Rescan if the Acer Bluetooth VoIP Phone do es not appear on the list. After pairing, Acer VCM automatically connects the phone to the notebook each time you turn the phone on .

When you receive an Internet call from your Instant Messaging service ( i.e. MSN ® Messenger, Skype), press the Bluetoot h connection/pairing button . 45 English Frequently asked questions The following is a list of possible situations that may arise during the use o f your computer. Easy solutions are provided for each o ne. I turned on the power, but the computer does not start or boot up. Look at the power indicator: • If it is not lit, no power is being supplied to the co mputer.
46 English No audio is heard from the computer. Check the following: • The volume may be muted. In Windo ws, look at the volume control (speaker) icon on the taskbar. If it is crossed-out, click on the ic on and deselect the Mute all option. • The volume level may be too low.
47 English • Make sure that the printer is connected to a power ou tlet and that it is turned on. • Make sure that the printer cable is connected securely to the computer's parallel port or a USB port a nd the corresponding port on the printer.
48 English To start the recovery process: 1 Restart the system. 2 While the Acer logo is sho wing, press <Alt> + <F10> at the same time to enter the recovery process. 3 Refer to the onscreen instruct ions to perform system recovery. Important! This feature occupies up to 10 GB in a hidden partition on your hard disk.
49 English English Battery pack The computer uses a batt ery pack that gi ves you long use betwee n charges. Battery pack characteristics The battery pack has the following characteristics: • Employs current battery technology standards. • Delivers a battery-low warning.
50 English Follow these steps ag ain until the batte ry has been charged an d discharged three times. Use this conditioning process fo r all new batteries, or if a b attery hasn't been used for a long time. If the computer is to be stored for more than two weeks, you are advised to remove the battery pack from the unit.
51 English English To remove a battery pack: 1 S lide the battery release latch to release the batter y. 2 Pull the battery from the battery bay. Charging the battery To charge the battery, first make sure that it is correctly installed in the battery bay.
52 English Battery-lo w warning When using batter y power pay attention to the Win dows power meter. Warning: Connect the AC adapte r as soon as possible after the battery-low warning app ears. Data will be lost if the battery to become fully depleted and the computer sh uts down.

Th is player has the features and controls of a typical DVD player. When you insert a disk into the DV D drive, the movie begins playing automatically.
58 English Album Acer Arcade lets you view digital photos individually or as a slid e show, from any available drive on your computer. Click the Album button on the Arcade Home page to show the Albu m main page. The content area on the right shows both indi vidual pictures and folders.
