4 Safety P recautions NO TICE (F or USA) Language for Manuals of Products using HID Lamps (that con tains mer- cury) This product has a High Intensity Discharge (HID) lamp that contains a small amount of mercury. It also contains lead in some compo- nents.
5 – Slots and openings in the cabinet are provided f or ventilation. These ensure r eliable operation of the product and protect it from overheating .These openings must not be blocked or cov ered. ( The openings should never be blocked by placing the product on bed, sofa, rug, or similar surface.

7 About Burning-in of D-ILA Device • Do not allow the same still picture to be projected for a long time or an abnormally bright video image to be projected. Do not project video images with a high intensity or high contrast on a screen. This video image could be burnt into this D-ILA de - vice.

12 C ontrols and F eatures (c ontinued) 1. LAMP INDICA TOR: Light On: Indicates the lamp has been used for more than 1900 hours. Blinking: Indicates that lamp usage time (about 2000 hours) is exceeded . Please contact your Vidikron dealer to re- place the lamp .
13 *About Cool Do wn Mode After projection, the heated lamp will go through a 90-second cool-down process known as the cool down mode. This function is to prevent damage and def ormation that heat from the heated lamp may cause to the internal components of this unit.
14 TEST PRESET ENT MUTE LIGHT 1. [ON] Button When this unit is in the standby mode, pressing the button for more than 1 sec ond will turn this unit on and cause the [OPERA TE] indicator to light up .
15 Installation En vironmen t This unit is a precision devic e. Do not install it a t the following places. Doing so ma y cause fi r e or malfunction of the unit.
16 Projector and Screen Installation The optimum image can be obtained when the center of the lens and the scr een are placed perpendicular to each other . T ake note of the projection angle when placing them. F ailing to do so may give rise to trapezoidal distortion of the projected image.
17 "# " # 4DSFFO Screen Size and Pr ojection Distance • This unit uses a 1.3x manual zoom lens for projection. • Although the focusable projection distance is about 4.92 ft (1.5 m) to 39.37 ft.
18 Eff ec tive Range of Remote Con trol Unit The operable distance of the remot e control unit is about 23 ft. (7 m) for dir ect reception. The remote control can be used by ha ving the transmission signal refl ected off a screen. • If a fl uorescent lamp is lit, the remote contr ol unit might not function properly .
19 C onnecting to Devices Before connection, be sure to turn off both the projector and the device to be connected. Connecting to the VDP-80 digital video processor • Read the manual that is supplied with the digital video processor thor oughly . • The signal may attenuate and the image ma y become unstable depending on the DVI cable.

21 Basic Opera tion 1 T urning on the power 1 Insert the power plug to the pow er outlet. • The main power turns on and the [ST AND BY ] indicator on the unit lights up.

29 Replacing the Lamp (F or ser vice personnel only) Lamp and Lamp Usage Time The maximum life of the lamp used f or this unit is about 2000 hours, and may be far less depending on the type of usage and pro jector settings. • The lamp lif e may not reach 2000 hours depending on the operating conditions .
30 Cleaning and Replacing the F ilter Have y our Vidikron dealer clean the fi lter regularly or air intake effi cienc y may deteriorate and malfunction may occur . If the fi lter is ex- tremely dirty and cannot be cleaned, or if it is damaged, replace the fi lter with a new one.
31 Wha t to do when these messages are displa y ed Message Cause (Details) No device is connected to the DVI terminal . The terminal is connected but there is no sig nal output. ➝ Input the video signals. When lamp time reaches 1000 hours ➝ A message indicating “1000 h” will be displayed on the screen.
32 W arning Indication About warning indica tors If an abnormality occurs in this unit during projection, the warning mode will be triggered and the type of abnormality will be indicated by a combination of indicators displa yed on the control panel .
