Since some municipalities have additional local codes, it is always best to consult your local authority and the National Fuel Gas Code, ANSI Z223.

It may be necessary to first position the fireplace and measure to obtain hole location. Depending on whether the wall is combustible or noncombustible, cut opening to size.
