8 Caring f or Y our Device Like any electronic device , the M iF i 4510L must be handled with care to ensur e reliable operation. V erizon Wir eless recommends the following guidelines: • Pr otect the device from liquids , dust, and ex cessive t emperatures .

10 A cc essing the Network 4G L TE With L TE bandwidth (700 MHz) you can get the broadband-like speed y ou require t o work eciently outside the home or oce. Y ou can connect to the Internet, access your c orporate intr anet, check your email and download a ttachments at speeds that are up t o 10 times faster than 3G.
11 Using the Device f or the F irst Time T o get star ted , follow these st eps: ➊ Conrm your c omputer meets the minimum system r equirements. (See System Requirements on page 3.) ➋ Assemble the wall charger . (See Assemble the W all Charger on page 12.
12 Assemble the W all Charger The wall charger c omes with a remov able plug. Y ou need to connect it before using the MiF i device for the rst time . T o assemble the wall charger , follow these steps: ➊ Remove the plug and the wall char ger from the package.
13 Remov e the 4G L TE SIM Card T o remov e the 4G L TE SIM Card , follo w these steps: ➊ Open the SIM Card c over loca ted on the underside of the MiFi 4510L. P ress down on the small black tab to the left side of the SIM Card slot. ➋ Gently remov e the SIM Card fr om the SIM Card slot.
14 Inser t and Charge the Battery IMPORT ANT Befor e you use your device, be sure to char ge the batter y for at least three hours to ensure a full initial char ge. T o inser t and charge the batt er y , follow these st eps: ➊ Pr ess the button and then slide the co ver to open the batt er y compartment, located on the bottom of the device .
15 ➌ Replace the cov er by setting it on the device wher e the notches align, and then gently slide the cov er back towar d the release button until it clicks into place . ➍ Connect the micro USB end of the wall charger t o the micro USB port on the device.
16 Remov e the B att er y T o remov e or replace the battery, f ollow these steps: ➊ Pr ess the button and then slide the co ver to open the batt er y compartment, located on the bottom of the device . Set the cover aside . ➋ Inser t your ngernail into the batt er y remo val divot and lift the battery out of the batter y compartment.
17 Battery Tips W ARNING ! Use only batteries and chargers with y our device that have been appro ved by V erizon Wireless . Always use Veriz on Wireless original batteries and chargers . The warranty does not cover damage caused by non- V erizon Wireless batteries and/or chargers .
18 P ow er the MiFi 4510L On and O Po wer On • Pr ess the P ower Button until the LED turns green or violet . Po wer Off • Pr ess and hold the P ower Button until the display turns white and the LED turns amber .
19 C onnec ting to the MiF i Device Now you can c onnect your computer to y our MiFi devic e using Wi-F i. C onnect to MiFi Settings T o connect to the MiFi device , follow these steps: ➊ T urn on your computer and turn on the MiF i 4510L.
20 Using the Device A f ter Setup is Complet e Y ou can use the MiFi 4510L as a wir eless mobile hotspot to connect your computer and/or (up to a total of ve) other Wi-F i enabled devices to the mobile br oadband network. Y ou can customize the MiF i 4510L 's settings using M iF i Settings.

22 C onguring M iF i Settings Y ou can congur e the Wi-F i settings on your device using the easy-to-use MiFi Settings W eb -based User Inter face (MiF i Settings). It allows you to manage , monitor , and customize your Wi-F i and 4GL TE Mobile Broadband connection.
23 L ogin The L ogin page is the rst page you see after connecting and prior to logging in. It contains the status bar , the Connect/Disconnec t button, and the Setup Wizar d .
24 Menu Bar The Menu Bar is the primar y navigation f or M iF i Settings. Y ou can access each featur e under the appropriate menu ..
25 Home The Home page is the rst screen y ou see af ter logging in to MiF i S ettings. It is similar to the L ogin page, but adds mor e options in the status bar . I t is the main point of entry for everything you do in the brow ser interface. Y ou can also launch the Setup Wizard fr om this screen to change y our login and Wi-F i settings.
26 Setup Wizar d The MiF i 4510L Setup Wizard is a quick and con venient w ay to change y our login and Wi-F i settings. right after you login on the L ogin page.
27 The rst screen of the Setup Wizar d is the MIFI device P assword screen. T o change your existing MiFi password: ➊ T ype your new passwor d in the New P assword eld. ➋ T ype your new passwor d a second time in the V erify New Passw ord eld.
28 The Wi-F i Settings screen allows you t o change your Wi-F i prole settings and customize y our security options. T o change your Wi-F i S ettings: ➊ Check the Change Wi-Fi Settings check box. ➋ Select your preferred security option from the Security drop down menu .
29 The F inish screen is where you will c onrm and apply the changes you hav e made using the Setup Wizar d. T o conrm and apply your changes click Finish .
30 W i-F i The Wi-F i menu takes you to the Wi-F i screen. The Wi-F i screen is the screen you use t o customize the Wi-F i proles . The Wi-F i screen has the following section: • W i-Fi P rofiles (See Wi-F i Proles on page 31.
31 W i-Fi P roles The Wi-F i Proles section has the follo wing options: • Curren t Profile — The wireless (802.11) prole curren tly in use. • Selec ted Pr ofile — The prole settings sho wn on the page. (See Changing to a Di erent Pr ole on page 34.
32 Choosing a P role Y our device comes with the Secur e prole already set . The following pr oles come with your device: • Secure — This is the prole you should use most of the time . Y ou can set up this prole with the security measures you need to use y our device safely .
33 Set up a T emporary Hotspot T o set up a T emporar y Hotspot, follo w these steps: ➊ Connect to MiFi Settings and log in. (See Conguring MiF i S ettings on page 22.) ➋ Go to the Wi-F i screen. (See Wi-F i on page 30.) ➌ On the Wi-F i screen, select T emporar y Hotspot from the Selected Profile drop-down menu.
34 Changing to a Different Profile T o use a dier ent prole , follow these steps: ➊ Select the desired prole from the Selected Profile drop-down menu. ➋ W ait a moment for the web page to upda te with the Wi-F i settings for the selected prole.
35 Updating T o update the current pr ole, follow these st eps: ➊ Keep the same prole in the Selected Profile drop-down menu. ➋ Make changes to the prole settings . ➌ Click Apply . • If you change the Network Name (SSID), security method, or network key you will need to re- connect with the Wi-F i manager on your computer .
36 Updating a Profile Not Currently in Use T o update a prole not curr ently in use, f ollow these steps: ➊ Change the Selec ted Pr ofile drop-down menu to a dierent pr ole. ➋ W ait a moment for the web page to upda te with the Wi-F i settings for the selected prole.
37 Buttons • Update P rofile — Click this button to add changes t o a prole not curren tly in use. This does not aect the existing Wi-F i connec tion between your c omputer and the device . • Apply — Click this button to apply changes t o the current prole .
38 LAN The LAN menu takes you t o the LAN screen. The LAN screen g ives you settings and inf ormation about M iF i4510L 's net work. The LAN screen is divided into the f ollowing sections: • T CP/IP (See TCP/IP on page 39.) • Connected Devices (See C onnected Devices on page 39.
39 T CP/IP • IP Address — The IP address for MiF i4510L. • Subnet Mask — The subnet mask network setting for MiFi4510L. The default value 255.
40 W WA N The WW AN menu takes you to the W W AN screen. The WW AN screen gives y ou information about the MiF i4510L device's I nternet connection. The WW AN screen is divided into the f ollowing sections: • Internet C onnection (See I nternet Connection on page 41.
41 Internet C onnec tion The Internet Connection section shows device settings and status . • Status — The status of the Internet connection, usually Connected , Disconnected or Dormant . • T echnology — The type of technology used to connect to the Internet.
42 WW AN Settings T o congure the settings , follow these steps: ➊ Select Auto- connect from the Connection Preferr ed Mode drop- down menu to aut omatically connect to the Internet when the device is turned on. NO TE The APN is the Access P oint Name the device uses to connect to the Internet.
43 Securit y The Security Menu takes you to the following scr eens: • Admin P assword (See Admin P assword on page 43.) • MA C Filt er (See MAC F ilter on page 45.) • P ort Filtering (See on page 48.) Admin P assword The Admin P assword scr een enables you to set the administration passwor d.
44 Set Administration P assword The default passwor d is admin . T o set or change the administration password , follow these steps: ➊ T ype your current passw ord in the C urrent P assword box. ➋ T ype the new password (it must hav e bet ween 4 and 64 characters) in the New P assword box.
45 MA C F ilter The MA C Filter scr een enables you to allo w specic devices to connect to M iF i4510L 's wireless network. For example , if you put the MAC addr ess for y our W i-Fi-enabled mobile phone and the MA C addess for y our computer in the M AC F ilter T rusted Client List, then only those devices can connect to MiFi4510L.
46 Enable MA C Filter The Enable MA C Filter checkbox enables or disables the MA C F ilter feature . • When the fea ture is enabled (checked), you must add the M AC address for the devic e to the T rusted Client List.
47 Add T rusted Client MAC A ddress T o add a device to the T rusted Client List, follow these steps: ➊ T ype the Wi-F i-enabled device's MAC addr ess in the Add T rusted Client MA C Address eld. Y ou can use either ":" or "-" as the separator (f or example, 00:21:9B:1C:64:34 or 00-21-9B-1C- 64-34).
48 Remov e a Device fr om the T rusted Client List T o remov e a device from the T rusted Client List, follow these st eps: ➊ Click on the device in the T rusted Client List to select it. ➋ Click Delete Client . Buttons • Delete Client — Click this button t o remov e a device from the T rusted Client List.
49 P or t Filt ering The P or t Filt ering screen allows y ou to block outgoing Internet connections. Y ou can set a list of Allowed A pplications to only allow c er tain prog rams to connect to the Internet. The Port Filtering screen is divided into the f ollowing sections: • Enable P ort Filtering (See Enable P or t F iltering on page 50.
50 Enable Port Filtering The Enable P or t Filtering checkbox enables or disables the P or t F iltering featur e. • When the fea ture is enabled (checked), you must select a port ltering application in the Allowed A pplications list to allow tha t application to connect to the Internet.
51 Allowed Applic ations Enable each por t ltering application that needs t o be able to access the Internet. When por t ltering is enabled, all other applications ar e blocked.
52 Custom Applications This page has no eect unless the P or t Filt ering featur e is enabled. Click Custom A pplications to open the Cust om Applications scr een.
53 P ort R anges Y ou can dene up to v e por t ranges f or each application. Each port range has the following options: • Start Port — T ype the beginning of the range of port numbers used by outgoing trac for this application. U se as many r ows as necessary to dene the requir ed number of por t ranges.

55 Settings The Adv anced Settings screen is divided into the f ollowing sections: • W i-Fi (See on page 55.) • Router (See Router on page 56.) • Syste m (S ee on page 56.
56 Wi-F i The Network Name ( SSID ) broadcast enable check box enables or disables the SSID broadcast featur e. • If this is enabled (checked), M iF i4510L 's wireless network appears in the Av ailable W ireless Networks list on your c omputer or portable device.
57 S ystem The Enable Logs check bo x enables or disables the System log featur e. • If this is enabled (checked), you can view the system log on the Diagnostics scr een. (S ee on page 60.) • If this is disabled (un- checked), you cannot view the syst em log on the Diagnostics screen.
58 C ong F ile The Cong F ile screen pro vides the ability to download (back up) a cop y of the conguration settings from MiF i4510L to a le on your c omputer , or restore (upload) a pr eviously-sav ed conguration le fr om your comput er to MiF i4510L.
59 Config F ile D ownload Click Download F ile to download a c opy of the current c onguration, and stor e the le on your computer . Y ou are prompt ed to sav e the le; you can choose to r ename it.
60 Config F ile Upload Use this fea ture to r estore a pr eviously-saved conguration le t o MiFi4510L. This overwrites all existing settings with the information st ored in the cong le .
61 Diagnostics The Diagnostics scr een shows inf ormation about the MiFi4510L rm ware and other system-level information. Y ou can also view the system log . This screen is used mostly f or troubleshooting and is not required f or normal operation.
62 S ystem Information This section contains detailed information about the MiF i4510L. M iFi • Manufacturer — The manufac turer of the MiF i 4510L. • Model — The model number or name of the MiFi 4510L. • IMEI — The International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number for the MiF i 4510L.
63 S ystem Status • Modem Status — Click this button to view mor e information about the modem status. This information is mostly used f or troubleshooting . • Sy stem Log — Click this butt on to view the Sy stem Log . The System Log r ecords various operations, and is mostly used f or troubleshooting.
64 P or t F or war ding The P or t F or warding f eature allows incoming tr ac (from the Internet) to be f or warded t o a par ticular computer or devic e on MiFi4510L 's wir eless network. Nor mally , incoming trac fr om the Internet is blocked.
65 Port Forwarding Applic ations T o use any of the common server applications listed , follo w these steps: ➊ Install the application on a computer that is connected to MiF i4510L 's wireless network ( WLAN).
66 Po we r The MiF i4510L can turn itself o when not in use. When using battery power , automatic shutdown greatly e xtends the batter y lif e. T o star t up again, press the power butt on. 69 O v er view When properly installed , the MiFi4510L is a highly r eliable product. Most problems are caused b y one of these issues: • System r esources required b y the device are being used b y other devices. • Network cover age is unavailable due to c ov erage area, an acc ount problem, or a network problem.
