10 Chapter 2 Installation K7VT4-4X / K7VT4-8X is a n A TX f o rm fa ctor (12.0" x 7.0", 30.5 x 17.8 cm) motherboard. Bef ore you in stall the motherboard, ple ase st udy the conf iguration of your cha ssis to ensure that the m otherboard fits into it.
11 2.3 CPU Installation Step 1. U nlock the socket by lifting the lever up to a 90 o a ngle. Step 2. Position the CPU directly above the socket such that its marked corner matche s the ba se of the socket lever . Step 3. Carefully in sert the CPU into the socket until it fits in pla ce.
12 2.5 Installation of Memory Modules (DIMM) K7VT4-4X / K7VT4-8X motherboard provides two 184-pin DD R (Double Dat a Rat e) DIMM slots. Pl e ase ma ke sure to disconnect power supply bef ore a dd in g o r removing D IMMs or the syste m components. Step 1.
13 2.7 Jumpers Setup The illustration shows how jumpers are setup. When the jumper ca p is pla ced on pins, the jumper is “SHORT”. If no jumper ca p is pla ced on the pins, the jumper is “OPEN”. The illustration shows a 3-pin jumper whose pin1 and pin2 are “SHORT” when jumper ca p is pla ced on these 2 pin s.
14 FID Jumpers (FID0, FID1, FID2, FID3, FID4) (see p.7/p.8 item 29) Not e: The set of FID jumpers are only for advanced users to adjust the multiplier of CPU. Plea se follow the ta ble below to adjust the multi plier of CPU. However, the syste m will work well without the adjustment of multi plier .

22 Chapter 4 Software Suppor t 4.1 Install Operating System This motherboard supports various Microsoft ® Windows ® operating systems: 98 SE / ME / 2000 / XP. Because motherboard settings and hardware options vary, use the setup procedures in this cha pter for general reference only .
23 Appendix: Advanced BIOS Setup This section will introduce you the following BIOS Setup menus: “Advanced,” “Security,” “Power,” “Boot,” and “Exit.” 1. Advanced BIOS Setup Menu Spread Spectrum: This field should always be [Disabled] for better system stability.
24 Chipset Configuration: AGP Mode: If K7VT4-4X motherboard is installed for your PC system, you may selec t [ 4X ], [2X ], or [1 X] a s the A GP mode. But when a n 8X-AGP- card is installed on K7VT4-8X motherboard for your PC system, this feature will be set to [Auto] automatically.
