4 Your appliance 16 4.3 How induction hobs function Induction hobs work ver y differently fr om conventional hobs or hot plates. The induction coils under the glass cerami c plate produce a ra pidly changing magnetic field which di rectly heats up the magnetic base of the cookware.

In ord e r to be abl e to switch the cooking zone on, the original wok pan has to be on the co oking zone. • If the original wok pan is removed duri ng operation, – the power level sel ected flashes alterna tely with .

19 5 Operating the appliance When the appliance is swi tched off, all the displays a re dark (stand-by mode), except for the residual heat indicator should the cooking zone still be hot. 5.1 Switching the appliance on and off ➤ To switch the appli ance on: Depress the touch button for ab out 1 second.
5 Operating the appliance 20 5.4 Switching a cooking zone off ➤ Press on the slider. – If no other entry is made, the appliance swi tches off a fter 10 seconds. 5.5 Residual heat indicator After the cooking zone is switched off, remains illuminated in t he display as long as a burn hazard exi sts.
5 Operating the appliance 21 5.8 PowerPl us The cooking zone is e quipped with the Po werPlus booster. When PowerPlus is switched on, the cooking zone selected works a t extra high power for 10 minutes. PowerPlus can be used, for instance, to heat a large quantity of water quickly.
5 Operating the appliance 22 5.9 Operating time With the operating time function, the co oking zone switches off automatically after a set time (1 min. – 1 hr 59 mins.). Setting the operating t ime ➤ Select a cooking zone ➤ Press the touch button.

30 7 Care and maintenance 7.1 Cleaning Always clean the hob after use. This prevents food resid ues from burning on. Dried-on or burned-on food residue is harder to clean off. Use of improper cleaning te chniques can result in damage to the marki ngs or surface.
7 Care and maintenance 31 7.2 Cleaning the original wok pan ➤ Clean with a dish cloth or non-abrasi ve pad, water and a suitable deterge nt. ➤ Soak the original wok pan in water for a while in order to remove stubborn soiling e.g. rice. Avoid cleaning the surface with a brasive cleaning agents, scouring pads, wire wool etc.
