5 GETTING STARTED USING THIS MANUAL This manual is set up in six main sections: • Getting Started. This section describes your hardware and how to physically set it up. • Uniden Guardian™ Software Operations Overview. This section lists basic operations in an abbreviated format.
6 WHAT’S INCLUDED You should have the following items: G955 Monitor Camera (2) Stand (2) AC Adapter (3) Antenna (2) Not Shown: Mounting screws, Ethernet cable, 2 extension cords, and microSD™ card and adapter . If any items are missing or damaged, contact our Customer Care Line immediately.

9 SETTING UP THE EQUIPMENT Set Up the Monitor 1. Flip out the stand on the back of the monitor, and extend the antenna. Connect an AC adapter to the power input on the side of the monitor. Connect the other end of the adapter to a 120 volt AC (standard indoor) power outlet.
10 • Optimized motion detection range is 6 - 18 feet for the GC45 camera. The farther away an object is, the less accurate the motion detection. • Avoid having a direct light source in the view of the camera, including street lights, ceiling or floor lamps, spotlights in the driveway, etc.
11 2. Tighten the camera brace up against the camera to secure it into place. 3. Unlock the mounting post by turning the wingnut to the left a few turns. 4. Set the mounting post to the correct angle, then tighten the wingnut until the post is locked into place.

13 UNIDEN GUARDIAN SOFTWARE OPERATION OVERVIEW Your monitor’s Uniden Guardian software operates through a series of screens that let you choose groups of operations.
14 What the Icons Mean Select how you want the Live screen to display camera input: • Scan between cameras (5 seconds) • Quad view (all paired cameras display) • Full view (1 camera displays on full screen) Adjust the volume level.
15 Appears in Live view. Indicates remote viewing is in progress. Appears in Live view. Indicates the intranet connection is established. Displays the camera number and signal strength through the status lines to the left of the number.
16 Displays red when the microSD card is not present or is damaged. Changing How the Live Screen Displays The Live screen displays in 2 views - Quad view or Full view.
17 USING YOUR SYSTEM Recording Live Video 1. On the Live screen, tap for the camera to begin recording. The icon blinks while recording. 2. Tap it again to stop recording.
18 If you tap on a day that is not highlighted, a folder displays with no recordings listed. 2. Tap on the recording you want to view. It begins playing. Control icons display across the bottom of the screen. 3. Tap on any area of the screen that does not have control icons to bring up the playback progress bar.
19 2. Tap the X on the right-hand side of the entry. If you are deleting a folder, a confirmation screen displays. If you are deleting a single recorded file, that file deletes without a confirmation required. Adding New Cameras Your monitor supports a total of four active cameras at a time.
20 Troubleshooting Camera Pairing Consult the following table for camera pairing troubleshooting suggestions: the camera’s signal status icon shows no bars • making sure the camera is plugged in and the red LED is on.
21 UNIDEN GUARDIAN SCREEN DESCRIPTIONS OVERVIEW This section describes the Uniden Guardian screens in detail. It provides a path to the screen being viewed.
22 Network Setup Internet Setup Select the type of internet connection to be used. (DHCP is most common.) Security Code Set a security code for remote access.
23 CAMERA SETUP SCREEN Pairing Your cameras are paired to the monitor at the factory to channels 1 and 2. When you add a new camera to your system, you have to “introduce” the camera and monitor to each other so they can communicate.
24 Camera On When you add a camera to your system, pair up the camera with the monitor and the system will automatically turn it on. An X indicates a camera that is turned off; a check mark indicates the camera is turned on.
25 Brightness F rom the pop-up menu, tap the follo wing icons as they appear on the screens: This screen should displa y : Tap the camera whose brightness level you want to change. The default brightness is 0, and the range is from -2 through 2.
26 1. Each camera’s motion detection sensitivity can be set independently. You can set the motion detection level to Off, Low, or High. Tap on the camera to cycle through these choices. 2. Tap to return to the main Recorder Setup screen. The Motion Detection default setting for the cameras included in this system is set to Low.
27 F rom the pop-up menu, tap the follo wing icons as they appear on the screens: This screen should displa y : 1. Tap ENABLE to activate Email Alert or DISABLE to deactivate it. 2. Tap on the SMTP Server field. A gmail notice displays with the port information; tap OK .
28 5. Repeat Step 3 for the Email To field. Only one incoming email account will be accepted by the Uniden Guardian system. The incoming email account can be different from the outgoing email account. 6. Tap OK to save the settings, then tap to return to the previous screen.
29 F rom the pop-up menu, tap the follo wing icons as they appear on the screens: This screen should displa y : 1. Tap the camera number you want to record (1 - 4). You can select up to all 4 cameras to record. 2. Set the recording start time.
30 NETWORK SETUP SCREEN The Network Setup screen allows you to select your internet connection type and security code. You can also display the system default configuration. F rom the pop-up menu, tap the follo wing icons as they appear on the screens: This screen should displa y : Internet Setup 1.
31 DCHP is the most common connection. Your router will automatically assign an IP address to your Uniden Guardian system. Static IP is for those that have the ability to specify an IP address for the Uniden Guardian system. Security Code Set up your security code to limit who can have access to the system from a remote location.
32 4. Enter your security code. You can switch the keyboard from alphabetical characters to numbers/symbols and back by tapping the field to the left of the space bar. Tap ENTER . The Security Code screen displays again. You must enter a security code to monitor your video from a PC or other device.
33 ALARM SETUP SCREEN From the Alarm Setup screen, you can: • Set the length of time the alarm sounds. • Select a melody for the alarm. Period This selection allows you to select the length of time the alarm will sound for the alarm clock. 1. Tap Period .
34 Melody This selection allows you to select a melody for the siren. 1. Tap Melody . The Change Siren Melody screen displays. 2. A check mark appears on the melody you tap and the monitor briefly plays a sample of the selected melody. 3. Tap to return to the previous screen.
35 1. Tap Power Saving , then Enable to activate Power Saving mode (Default = Disable). 2. A check mark appears on your selection. 3. Tap to return to the previous screen. Screen Auto Lock When you turn on Auto Lock mode, the monitor automatically enters screen lock mode after being idle for 2 minutes.
36 Time The Time screen lets you set up clock alarms, set the system time, and set your local time zone. F rom the pop-up menu, tap the following ic ons as they appear on the screens: The follo wing screen displays: Clock Alarm This feature operates as an independent alarm clock.
37 4. Tap on the minute block. The UP/DOWN arrows move to the minute block. Set the minute. 5. Tap on AM/PM to toggle between the two. 6. Tap SAVE when you are finished. Time Setting This screen contains fields to set the Month, Day, Year, Hour, Minute, and AM/PM.
38 1. Tap to display the Time Zone screen. 2. Scroll through the time zone lists to find your time zone. Tap on that time zone when you find it. 3. Tap SAVE when you are finished.
39 1. Tap Storage Management on the System Setup screen. The Storage Management screen displays. 2. You can tap either Format or Overwite from this screen. Format Formatting the microSD card erases all data. If there are files you need to keep, transfer those files from the microSD card to your computer.
40 F rom the pop-up menu, tap the following ic ons as they appear on the screens: This screen should displa y : 1. Remove the microSD card. 2. Insert it into your computer. Use the adapter if needed. 3. Go to www.unidenvideo.com or www.
41 F rom the pop up menu, tap the following ic ons as they appear on the screens: This screen should displa y : 1. Select a language to change to that language. The Restore Default Settings screen displays. 2. Tap OK to continue with the language reset.
42 REMOTE ACCESS OVERVIEW Uniden Guardian lets you view live video from your Windows® PC, an iPhone®, iPad®, or Android TM smartphone or tablet. Free apps are available through the Apple App Store or the Android Market.
43 3. Place the monitor the maximum distance away from your router. 4. Turn on the monitor. A screen asks if you want to connect to the internet. 5. Tap Connect . The Internet Connection Status Indicator appears on the upper left of the LIVE screen indicating that the system is connected to the internet.
44 2. Fill out this page and click Submit . The Legal Agreement displays. 3. Read and agree to the Legal Agreement. The Account Setup screen displays. 4. Enter Account Name (1). 5. Enter a Password (2). 6. Enter it again to Verify Password (3). 7. Complete all required fields (4).
45 11. Provide a Device Nickname (1). 12. Select your retailer from the list (2). Enter the DID Code After selecting your Uniden Guardian system, you must enter the DID code. This DID code can be found on the back of your monitor. It is the characters underneath the barcode.
46 1. Enter your own unique security code (1). 2. Click START (2). The security code you enter on the Uniden Video Portal and the app must match the security code you entered on the device. Any time you change the security code on the device, you must make the corresponding change on the Portal or apps.
47 USING THE GUARDIAN 2 APP Android TM Establishing Your G955 System on the App. You can use a Google® Android TM smart phone or tablet with your Uniden Guardian System to remotely connect to and view live camera video. Follow these steps to establish your G955 system on the app.
48 If only one system is connected, the app will display the globe screen momentarily and then display the last image from that system. 5. Tap on the globe to view live video from that system. App Operation When you open the app on your Android smartphone or tablet, the Globe screen displays.
49 • : Delete System. Tap this icon to delete the Uniden Guardian system. • : View Recorded Files. Tap this icon to display a list of recorded files. (See “To View Recorded Files from your Mobile Device,” below.) Information Options These options display when you tap the icon.
50 1. Launch the Uniden Guardian 2 app and select your G955 system. The main screen displays. 2. Tap the icon. The Edit System, Delete System, and View Recorded Files icons display. 3. Tap VIEW RECORDED FILES . A list of recorded files (Event List) displays.
51 Snapshot icon. T ap to take a picture. Pictures are saved to your phone. R ecord icon. T ap to begin recording. A red circle displays in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. The app records for 2 minutes, and stores the record- ed le on the monitor’ s microSD card.
52 3. The Uniden Guardian 2 system Main screen displays. A globe displays for each system you connect to the Uniden Guardian 2 app. If only one system is connected, the app will display the globe screen momentarily and then display the last image from that system.
53 Main screen Tap to add an additional Uniden Guardian system. The app takes you back to the same screen you used to add your current system (see page 51). Tap to enter System Setup page. Tap to refresh the screen. Tap to display the APP Information options.
54 To Enable Event Notication You can set your smartphone or device to notify you when there is a new recorded file. 1. Tap Settings on your device. 2. Tap Notifications . A list of apps displays. 3. Tap Uniden Guardian 2 . 4. The Uniden Guardian 2 setting screen displays.
55 4. Tap on a file to play it. Two icons display on the screen: P ause icon. T ap to pause playback. T ap again to resume playback. R eturn icon. T ap to return to the previous screen. TO DELETE FILES 1. Tap the DELETE ALL or DELETE ONE button on the bottom of the list of files.
56 To Take Snapshots and Record from Live View From the Live view, three icons display on this screen - Snapshot, Record, and Return. Snapshot icon. T ap to take a picture. The picture is saved to your phone. R ecord icon. T ap to begin recording. A red circle displays in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
57 MAINTAINING YOUR SYSTEM UPGRADING YOUR UNIDEN GUARDIAN FIRMWARE Check your system firmware version on the Network Information screen. Go to www.unidenvideo.
58 Copying Files from the microSD Card to the Computer 1. Remove the microSD card from the monitor. 2. Insert it into your computer’s SD card slot. Use an adapter if necessary. 3. Navigate to the microSD card and locate your files. 4. Copy them to the computer.
59 SOLVING PROBLEMS If you have any trouble with your system, try these simple steps. If you are still having a problem with your camera, check the manual that came with your camera. If you still have a question, call our Customer Care Line; see “Customer Care” on page 2.
