This treadmill can monitor your heart rate using either a chest strap or the metal gr ips on the hand rails (called contact heart rate or C HR pads). A chest strap transmits your hear t rate to the treadmill v ia radio, and the C HR pads connect to a sp ec ial comput er circuit to extract your hear t rate.
