5 Configuration Using a small tool, set the f our “Batter y T ype / V oltage P oint” Configuration DIP Switc hes (located on the front panel of your APS); see Dia gr am 4, p.
6 Battery Selection Select a batter y or system of batter ies that will pro vide your APS with proper DC v olta g e and an adequate amp hour capacity .* Select ‘Deep-Cycle’ batteries to enjoy optimum perf or mance from y our APS. Batteries of either W et-Cell (vented) or Gel-Cell/Absorbed Glass Mat (sealed) construction are ideal.
7 1. Make sure that your APS batter ies have pr oper overcurrent protection. NEC article 551 requires that y ou install a recognized UL component fuse block and UL listed fuse within 18 inches of the batter y . The fuse’ s rating must equal or e xceed the Minimum DC Fuse Rating listed in your APS model’ s specifications on pa g e 13.
8 When figuring the power requir ements of your equipment, do not confuse “continuous” power r atings with “peak” po wer r atings. Electric motor s require more po wer to tur n on (“peak power”) than they requir e to r un continuously .“Peak” power ratings are usuall y 2 to 5 times “continuous” r atings.

11 Y our APS model requires no maintenance but should be kept dr y at all times. Periodically chec k all connections both at the unit and at the batter y .
