Intr oduction Congratulations! Y ou’v e purchased the most adv anced, featur e-r ic h integrated inverter/charg er on the market. Y our APS powers connected equipment, switc hing manually or automaticall y from utility power to pow er inverted from an external batter y or batteries.
3-Stage Battery Charger Y our APS recharg es your battery faster than conventional c hargers because its three-stage charg er profile (Bulk, Absorption and Float) is optimized for the type of battery you use (W et or Gel).

Configuration Using a small tool, set the four “Battery T ype / V oltage P oint” Configur ation DIP Switches (located on the front panel of your APS); see Diagram 4, p.
Battery Selection Select a batter y or system of batteries that will provide your APS with proper DC voltage and an adequate amp hour capacity .* Select ‘Deep-Cycle’ batteries to enjoy optimum performance from y our APS. Batteries of either W et-Cell (vented) or Gel-Cell/Absorbed Glass Mat (sealed) construction are ideal.
1. Make sure that your APS batteries have proper overcurrent protection. NEC article 551 requires that you install a r ecognized UL component fuse block and UL listed fuse within 18 inches of the batter y . The fuse’ s rating must equal or e xceed the Minimum DC Fuse Rating listed in your APS model’ s specifications on page 13.
When figuring the power requirements of y our equipment, do not confuse “continuous” power r atings with “peak” power r atings. Electric motor s require more pow er to turn on (“peak power”) than they require to run continuously . “Peak” power ratings ar e usually 2 to 5 times “continuous” r atings.
