11 BEFORE USING THE HOTPLATES FOR THE FIRST T IME Turn the c ontrol kno b to a medi um/high sett ing and a llow the h otplate to he at, unc overed by a sauc epan for 3- 5 minutes. Th is hardens the protec tive c oating on t he hotplat es and m akes it mor e resis tant to norma l use.
12 DEEP FAT FRYING SPECIAL FR YING NOTE: For safety purp oses when deep fat frying, fill the pan one third f ull of o il, DO NOT cover the p an with a lid and DO NOT leave th e pan unatt ended.

15 USES OF THE FAN OVEN The oven is heated by the ele ment around the fan situ ated behind the b ack panel. The fan draws air fr om the oven, the e lement he ats the a ir which is c irculated i nto the ov en via the v ents in the back panel.
16 HINTS AND TIPS • Arrange the she lves in the re quired pos itions before switch ing the oven ON. She lf positions are number ed from th e bottom u pwards.

19 USES OF DEFROST This fan oven function defrosts most foods fast er than more c onvention al methods . I t is part icularly suitable for d elicate froz en foods which are to be served cold e.g. cr eam filled ga teaux, c akes cov ered with i cings or frost ings, che esecakes, biscui ts, scones etc.
