EN 13 9) Using the touch screen Scrolling The home screen of your SurfT ab ex tends two pages to the right and left of the middle window . T o reach these pages, slide your finger from left to right (or the reverse) across the scr een.
EN 14 Selecting an element T o open an element or select an option, br iefly touch the icon you requir e with your finger . i If you want to close a rec ently used element (app, widget, menu), tap the display of all open elements. Place y our finger on the element that you want to close and drag the element down to close it.
EN 15 Enlarging and r educing the view T o enlarge the display , move two fingertips apar t on the screen or tap the display twice in quick succession. Conversely , move two fingertips towards each other on the screen or tap twice again in quick succession to reduce the display once mor e.
EN 16 10) P ersonalising the home screen Y ou can set up the home screen (as well as the four additional pages) according to your wishes by adding or remo ving app shor tcuts and widgets and altering the background. Adding apps to the home scr een a) T ap the applications menu in the quick star t bar on the home screen.
EN 17 Changing the screen backgr ound a) T ouch an empt y area of the screen background until a windo w with the message " C hoose W allp apeR fRom " appears. b) Now tap the r elevant icon to choose which source you would like to select the background motif from.
EN 18 12) Using the multiple user function The SurfT ab allows you to set up as many as eight user accounts . T o set up a new user account, please proceed as follo ws: a) Select " s et tings ". b) T ap " u seRs " under " d eviCe ".
EN 19 14) Connecting to the Internet via 3G The 3G function on your Sur fT ab means that you are independent of available WiF i networks. Y ou connec t to the network via your mobile communications provider . Inser ting the SIM card Only insert the SIM card when the device is completely switched off.
EN 20 Defining settings for 3G mode There are various options f or adjusting 3G mode to suit your requirements . These can be found under " s ettings ". SIM card management i The following setting options vary depending on whether you have inserted one or two SIM cards.
EN 21 Mobile data Drag the slider to the right of " m obile da ta " t o " on " , in order t o activate the data service, or to " off " , in order to deactivate it. Set mobile data limit T ap the box to the right of " s et mobile da t a limit " if you would like to limit your data usage.
EN 22 Removing the SIM card a) Remove the cover on the rear side of your SurfT ab by reaching into the slit intended for this purpose and carefully pulling the cov er upwards. i Use your fingernail or a similarly thin lever to reach into the opening .
EN 23 16) Installing/uninstalling apps Downloading and installing apps Thanks to access to Google Play™, y our Sur fT ab allows you to add fur ther apps, widgets, programs and eBooks t o the ones that are pre-installed. The Play Stor e app is already installed on your SurfT ab.
EN 24 17) Using navigation The SurfT ab is delivered with a built-in GPS module as well as a car cradle and a car charging cable. This makes it per fect for navigation purposes. Mounting the car cradle a c d b a) Connect the two par ts of the car cradle.
EN 25 Navigating with the Sur fT ab With the pre-installed standard navigation app or an appropriate app of your choice, you can use your SurfT ab for navigation. i An appropriate application c an be selected in the Google Play Store™. First, y ou need to provide your location inf ormation.
EN 26 18) Using the camera T ap the camera icon in the applications menu or in the quick star t bar . The following scr een appears: T ak ing a photo Hold the Sur fT ab with the camera in the required direction and press the shutter button (18 B). The picture is saved and the SurfT ab br iefly displays a preview of the photo.
EN 27 Editing photos a) Briefly tap the lower edge of the display to show the task bar . Now tap the home icon to exit camera mode. b) Open the gallery by tapping the galler y symbol in the applications menu or in the quick start bar. c) In the galler y, tap the photo that you would like to edit.
EN 28 19) Connecting other devices Connecting the Sur fT ab to a computer a) Connect the Sur fT ab to your computer with the micro USB cable provided. b) A shor t moment later , the memor y of the Sur fT ab will be shown as a connected device in your computer’s file explor er .
EN 29 20) Activating standby mode If you do not want to use your SurfT ab for a while, press the on/off swit ch briefly to put the SurfT ab into standby mode and save power . T o exit standby mode, briefly press the on/off switch again. Once you have reactivated the SurfT ab, it will initially display the lock screen.
EN 30 Putting the SurfT ab into recovery mode/loading the fac tory settings The "recovery mode" allows you to reset the device to its factory settings, delete forgotten passw ords or delete the memory of the Sur fT ab, f or instance.
