EN 13 8) Home screen and desktop view Depending on needs and preferences , you can decide whether to use the home screen with live tiles (this screen is optimised f or mobile devices) or the classical desktop view . The first time you switch on your SurfT ab, the home screen with live tiles appears.
EN 14 Desktop view 9) Charm Bar The Charm Bar is a bar with quick links to some of the important func tions of the Sur fT ab. Y ou can show or hide the Charm Bar on the home screen or the desktop view. T o open the Char m Bar , swipe your finger from the right edge of the screen towards the centr e of the screen.
EN 15 10) Using and setting up the home screen T o go to the home screen, tap the Windows button (A). Selecting an element Using your fingertip, briefly tap the desired live tile or an input area in or der to open it.
EN 16 Arranging and sorting the live tiles The live tiles displayed on the home scr een can be arranged to suit your prefer ence. T o access the edit mode for a particular live tile, place your finger on the live tile and hold the tile until a small tick appears in its top-right corner.
EN 17 Calling up the Applications menu The Applications menu is located "beneath" the home screen. T o call up the Applications menu, place your fingertip on a free area of the home screen and "drag" the home screen up .
EN 18 WP A Enter the network key in the input field and tap " n ext " to confirm. The network key can generally be found on the back of your router . WPS If a WPS authentication method (f or example, a PIN) was set up for your r outer , the Sur fT ab shows a different input field.
EN 19 r W ARNING Y ou will be asked whether the Sur fT ab should search for additional devices in the selected network and whether it should automatically connect to these devices (for example , printers or television sets). This is recommended in priv ate home networks that you can trust.
EN 20 12) Activating Office 365 Personal A one-year subscription to O ffice 365 Personal is pr einstalled on your SurfT ab. T o exploit the numerous benefits of the productivity software, you must activate Office within six months of activating Windows.
EN 21 2. Y ou must have a Microsoft account and be signed in with it. Ideally , you will have created a Microsoft account or signed in with your existing Microsoft account during the initial setup process when you first switched on your SurfT ab.
EN 22 j) The status message " C onneCteD " appears under the selected device af ter successful pairing. k) Exit the device settings by tapping the Windows button. l) Open the SurfTab file br owser (live tile with folder symbol) and go t o the file that you would like to send.
EN 23 k) T ap the " p aste " function in the drop-down window. The file is copied to the selected folder . l) Go back to the drive overview (" t his pC "), tap the USB-Stick and hold it until a drop-down window appears. m) T ap " r eMove " in the drop-down window to safely remove the USB-Stick and avoid any data loss .
EN 24 f ) T ap " a DD a Wireless Display " . The Sur fT ab now searches for available Miracast devices nearby. A list of all a vailable Miracast devices then appears. g) T ap the device that you wish to connect to. h) A short time later, the selected device will show the display of the SurfT ab.
EN 25 Calling up options and front camera T o call up fur ther options of the camera application or to switch to the front camera, swipe your finger from the bottom edge of the display t owards the centre. A list of available options appears . T ap the desired option to call it up.
EN 26 f ) Under " i Mporant upDa tes " , select how the Sur fT ab should proceed with updates in future. i F urther down on the same screen, you can also specify how the SurfT ab should handle other forms of updates (" r eCommeNded upda tes " and " m iCrosoft u pdate ").
EN 27 19) Reset and recovery Reset If your Sur fT ab " freezes" and no longer responds, y ou can restart it. Press and hold down the on/off switch until the device switches off . Wait f or about 20 seconds and then turn the device on normally.
