1 INTRODU CTION The T O SHIBA TDP-B1 is specifically designed for the mobile pre- senter . It p acks XGA 1024x768 graphics with 16.7 mi llio n colors into a small, 4.8 p ound pac kage. It gen erates crisp, clear i mages using Di gital Light Processing™ (DLP) technology .

5 SETTI NG UP TH E PR OJECTO R 1 Place the projector on a flat surface. • The pr ojector mus t be within 1 0 feet (3 m ) of your power sou rce and within 6 feet ( 1 .8 m) of your computer . • If you want to project from beh ind a translucent screen, set up the projector behind your s creen.

8 Setting up the Projector Do y ou want to control the co mputer ’ s mouse from the projector ’ s remote or keyp ad? If you r computer has a PS/2 c onnecto r , use the PS/ 2 mouse c able. 1 Plug the end of the PS/2 mouse cable with 6 pins into the mouse connector on your computer .
9 Connectin g a V ideo Player 1 If yo ur video player uses a rou nd, one-prong co mposite video co n- nector, you ’ll need only the audio cab le, audio adap ter , and compos- ite video cabl e that s hipp ed with the projector.

11 Powering up the Pr ojector and Adjusting the Image NOTE : Always use the powe r cor d that shipped with the pr o- jector . 1 Remove the lens cap . 2 Plug the power cord into th e sid e of the projector, then plu g it into your electr ical outlet. A sur g e-protected powe r strip is recom- mended.
12 Setting up the Projector T urning Off the Pro jector If yo u want to t urn of f the projector fo r a short period o f time, press th e standb y button on the keypad or remote. This blanks the scr een for fif- teen minutes, b ut keeps the projector r unning.
13 USING THE PRO JECTOR This sect ion desc ribes how to use and make adjust ments to th e projec- tor . It also provides a referen ce to the keypad and remote b uttons and the options available from the on-screen menus. 17 Stan dby When you press stan dby , th e display and a udio turn of f and a blan k screen is displayed for 1 5 minutes. Y ou can change the amount o f time the project or stays in standby mo de; see “Standb y T ime” on page 23 for details.
18 Using the Projector Using the On-Screen Menus The proj ector has six dro p-down menus that allow you to mak e image adjustm ents and change a va riety of se ttings. Most of these adju stments aren’ t available directly from the keypad. NOTE: Some menu items may be gra yed out a t ce rtain ti m es.

20 Using the Projector Color The color settin g ad justs a video imag e from black and white to fully saturated color . • Press the left mouse button to decrease the amount of color in the image. • Press the right mouse button to increase the amount o f color in the image.

24 Using the Projector Rear Pr ojection When you tur n Rear Project io n on, the p rojector reverses the im age so you can pr oject from behind a translucent screen . Highlight Rear Pro- jection, then click the left or righ t navigation button to turn this feature on an d off.
25 Display Startup Screen This setting toggles between On and Off. When thi s feature is On, the T OSHIBA startup screen appears when the projector starts up and remains until an acti ve source is detected.

28 Maintena nce & T roubleshooting Replacing the Batteries in the Remote Contr ol The lif e of the b atter ies dep ends on how oft en and how l ong yo u use the remote. Symptoms of low battery char ge include erratic respo nses when using the r emote and a reduced range of operation.
