9 Introduction Open the cover . Insert batteries (R03/AAA siz e). Make sure to match the + and – on the batteries to the marks inside the batter y compar tment. Caution • Ne ver throw batteries into a fi re. Notes • Be sure to use R03/AAA siz e batteries.
10 Introduction * MENU button Use the MENU button to displa y the menu included on many D VDs. * RETURN button Retur n to menu displa y f or VCD (2.0) discs with menu (PBC should be ON). Remote contr ol The instructions in this manual describe the functions on the remote control.

16 Connections Connecting to Optional Equipment Y ou can enjo y high quality dynamic sounds by connecting the D VD pla yer to optional audio equipment. * Settings f or HDMI output format are performed using the HDMI button on the remote control or HDMI SELECT b utton on the front panel.
17 Connections Dolby Surr ound Pro Logic Y ou can enjoy the dynamic realistic sound of Dolby Surround Pro Logic b y connecting an amplifi er and speaker system (right and left front speakers , a center speaker , and one or two rear speak ers).
18 Connections 2 channel digital stereo Y ou can enjoy the dynamic sound of 2 channel digital stereo by connecting an amplifi er equipped with a digital audio input and speak er system (right and left front speakers). 75 Ω coaxial cable (not supplied) • Make the f ollowing setting.

22 Function setup Using the Language setup menu 1. Press SETUP during stop, the system setup men u appears. 2. Press / b utton to select the setting item: Language, Subtitle, A udio , D VD Menu, DivX Subtitle. 3. Press button, then use / button to select the setting choice on the right.
23 Function setup Night Mode Night mode is equivalent to Dynamic Range Compress . When it is On, it reduces the variations between loud and soft sounds in audio output. Y ou can still hear softer sounds and dialogue e ven in v er y low v olume. Note Night mode is Dynamic Range Control (DRC) option f or analogue audio output.
24 Function setup Initialization This option allows y ou to retur n the unit’ s setting to the factory def ault. Any changes you hav e made to the unit’s settings will be re verted back to the original setting except y our password and parental lock le vel.
