Depending on what components you hav e, another connection may provide better pictur e and audio quality .

36 BA SIC TV OPE RA TION POP (P I C TU R E-O UT -P I C TU R E) OPE RA TI ON Y our TV is capable of displaying two pictures simultaneously . This is called the Double-W indow or POP (Pictur e-out-Pictur e) feature. This TV is equipped with a dual NTSC tuner that tunes to cable or off-air television signals.

53 AD J U STI N G T V C O NTR O L S Color T emp Color T emperature displays a list that lets you set one of three automatic color adjustments: Cool for a more blue palette of picture colors, M edium for neutral picture colors, and W arm for a more r ed palette of picture colors.

55 AD J U STI N G T V C O NTR O L S Audio P rocessor A udio P rocessor displays a choice list of available audio modes, which control the way the sound comes through your speakers. Depending on y our speaker setup, any combination of the follo wing options will appear: • Mono Plays the sound in mono only .

S elect Dolby D igital if the TV is connected to a D olby Digital only decoder; it will provide six independent soundtrack channels through the optical output jack (labeled DIGIT AL A UDIO OUT).

60 USI NG TH E P R O F I LE S After a spending limit is set and the system is locked, you must enter a passwor d to purchase a pay per view program that costs more than y our spending limit allows. The system will then temporarily unlock the limits you have set until the po wer is turned off.
61 USI NG TH E P R O F I LE S TH E TV S ETU P Y ou can establish TV channel lists, set spending limits, and set rating limits for TV programs using the TV Setup menu. Editing Channels in a TV List Y ou should create a TV channel list to establish which TV channels (including both analog and digital) the selected profile can access.
62 USI NG TH E P R O F I LE S SE TT I NG TH E T V R A TI N G The Set TV Rating menu enables you to program your TV so children cannot see certain pr ograms or channels.

69 USI NG TH E P R O F I LE S LO C K I N G AN D U N L O C K I N G A U S E R P R O F I LE When you lock a profile, you pr event anyone who does not kno w the user password fr om accessing the locked profile. This applies only when they press WHO on the r emote control.
70 USI NG TH E P R O F I LE S LO C K I N G TH E SY STE M When you lock the system, all limits set up for all profiles ar e put into effect, regar dless of whether the profile is locked or unlocked. U nlocked profiles require no user passwor d to access their channel list if the system is locked.

83 GE T T IN G AS S I S T AN C E When getting antenna information, the screen lists: • the channel number , • the station name, if available, • whether the channel is digital or analog, • which antenna is receiving the signal, and • if a digital channel, the current signal strength.
84 GE T T IN G ASS I S T AN C E Using the On-Scr een Signal Meter The signal strength meter is used to determine whether you are r eceiving the DIRECTV signal; it also indicates the strength of the DIRECTV signal once the signal is acquir ed. F ollow these steps to bring up the on-scr een signal meter: 1.
