6 Notes on moisture c ondensation Moisture condensation damages the unit. Please read the following carefully. Moisture condensation occurs, for example, when you pour a cold drink into a glass on a warm day an d drops of water form on the outside of the glass.
7 Notes on discs On handling discs • Do not touch the p layback side of the disc. Handle the disc as shown in the figure below. • Do not attach paper or tape to discs. On cleaning discs • Fingerprints and dust on the disc cause pictur e and sound deteriorati on.
8 Playable discs This TV/DVD can play the following discs. • You cannot play di scs other than those listed abo ve. • You cannot play discs of DVD-RAM, DVD-ROM, CD- ROM, Photo CD, etc., or non-standardized discs even if they may be labeled as above.

17 Chapter 2: Connecting your TV Overview of cable types Cables c an be purcha sed from most stores that sell audio/video devices. Be fore purchasing any cables, be sure of connector types required by your devices and the length of each cable.
18 Chapter 2: Conn ecting your TV Connecting a VCR, and antenna, Cable TV Y ou will need: • coaxial cables • standard A/V cables Note: When you use a Cable box, you may not be able to use the remote control to program or access certain feat ures on the TV .

20 Chapter 2: Conn ecting your TV Connecting an HDMI or DVI device to the HDMI TM input The HDMI input on your TV receives digital audio and uncompressed digital video from an HDMI source device, or uncompre ssed digital video from a DVI (Digital V isual Interface) source device.

22 Chapter 2: Conn ecting your TV Connecting a digit al audio system The TV’ s DIGIT AL AUDIO OUT terminal outputs a Dolby ® * Digital or 2-channel down-mixed PCM (Pulse-Code Modulation) signal for use with an external Dolby ® Digital decoder or other external au dio system with optical audio input.

27 Chapter 4: Menu layout and navigation Main menu layout T o open the m ain menus (illustrated below), press on the remote control or MENU on the TV control panel. Setup/Inst allation menu layout The Installation menu contains the Te r r e s t r i a l and System St atus menus.
28 Chapter 5: Setting up your TV Initial Setup When you fir st turn on or reset the TV , th e Initial Setup window will appear . Selecting the menu language Y ou can choose from three different languages (English, French and Spanish) for the on-screen display of menus and messages.
29 Chapter 5: Setting up your TV Programming channels into the TV’ s channel mem ory When you press or on the remote control or TV control panel, your TV will stop only on the channels you programmed into the TV’ s channel memory . Follow the steps below to progra m channels into the TV’ s channel memory .
30 Chapter 5: Setting up your TV T o block channels in the channel memory: Y ou can block specific channels. Y ou will not be able to tune blocked c hannels unless you unlock them.

32 Chapter 5: Setting up your TV Viewing the digit al signal meter Y ou can view the digital signal mete r in the ANT/ CABLE digital TV input source only . T o view the digital signal meter: Setting the Time Zone The T ime Zone setup will allow you to sp ecify the correct time zone for your region.

34 Chapter 6: Using the TV’s features Input labeling example: The screen below is an example of how you could label the inputs if you connected a VCR to V ideo, a V ideo Recorder to HDMI 1, and a DTV set-top box to HDMI 2. Also note that the ColorStream HD input is labeled “Hidden”, which means that input will be skipped over when is pressed.
35 Chapter 6: Using the TV’s features T uning to a specific channel (programmed or unprogrammed) T uning analog channels: Press the Channel Number buttons (0–9) on the remote control.

Note: When receiving a signal at 480i resolution, the pic ture scroll function may have limited adjustment range.
38 Chapter 6: Using the TV’s features Adjusting the picture Selecting the picture mode Y ou can select your desire d picture settings from four different modes, as describ ed below . Note: PC mode is av ailable for HDMI and PC inputs o nly (grayed out f or other input sources).
39 Chapter 6: Using the TV’s features Using the closed caption mode Base closed c aptions The closed caption mode has two options: • Captions—An on-screen display of the dialogue, narration, and sound effects of TV programs and videos that are closed captioned (usually marked “CC” in program guides).
40 Chapter 6: Using the TV’s features CC Selector Y ou can use the CC and Digita l Audio Selectors to temporarily override the default analog caption mode (set in Base CC Mode ) for a particular channel.
41 Chapter 6: Using the TV’s features T o listen to stereo sound: Note: • You can typically lea ve the TV in Stereo mode bec ause it will aut omatically ou tput the type of sound being broadcas t (stereo or monaural). • If the stereo sound is noisy, s elect Mono to reduce the noise.
42 Chapter 6: Using the TV’s features Using the Dolby ® Digit al Dynamic Range Control fe ature This dynamic range control feature causes the A TSC dynamic range to be further compressed, allowing you to switch from A TSC to analog broadcasts at the same dynamic ran ge.
43 Chapter 6: Using the TV’s features Blocking TV programs and movies by rating (V -Chip) Some TV programs and movies include signals that classify the content of the program (violence, sex, dialogue, language). The V -Chip feature in this TV detects the signals and blocks the programs according to the ratin gs you select.
44 Chapter 6: Using the TV’s features Note: • If you place an “ X ” in th e box next to “ ‘None’ Rated ,” prog rams rated “ None ” will be blocked; however, programs that do not provide any rating information will not be blocked. • To display the rati ng of the program you are watching, p ress on the remote co ntrol.
45 Chapter 6: Using the TV’s features Using the input lock featur e Y ou can use the Input Lock feature to lock the video inputs ( Vide o , ColorStre am HD , HDMI 1 , HDMI 2 , and PC ) and channels 3 and 4. Y ou will not be able to view the input sources or channels until y ou unlock the inputs.

When a PC is connected to the TV’ s PC IN terminal, you can use the PC Settings fea ture to make adjustments to the im age. If the edges of the picture are cut off, readju st the Horizont al Position an d V ertical Position .
47 Chapter 6: Using the TV’s features Setting the sleep timer Y ou can set the sleep timer to turn off the TV after a set length of time (maximum of 180 minutes). T o set the sleep timer using the remote contro l: Press on the remote control to set the length of time until the TV turns off.
48 Chapter 6: Using the TV’s features REGZA-LINK ® Player Control menu functions Note: • These functi ons depend on th e devices tha t are connected. • The REGZA-LI NK Player Control item will be grayed out in the foll owing conditi ons: - A non-HDMI input is currently selected.
49 Chapter 6: Using the TV’s features Note: When you turn on the audio receiver , change its in put source, or adjust the sound volume, the sound will be outpu t from the audio receiver’s speakers even if TV Speakers has been selected. T urn the TV off and on again to output the sound from th e TV speakers.
50 Chapter 7: Using the TV’s advanced features Using the advanced picture settings features Using dynamic contrast When dynamic contrast is set to On , the TV will detect changes in the picture quality that af fect the appearance of your contrast settings and then automatically adjust the video.
51 Chapter 7: Using the TV's advanced features Using CableClear ® digit al noise reduction The CableClear ® digital noise reduction feature allows you to reduce visible interference in your TV picture. This may be useful when receiving a broadcast with a weak signal (especially a Cable channel) or playing a noisy video cassette or disc.
52 Chapter 7: Using the TV's advanced features Using the advanced audio settings features Using the QSound ® sound f eature QSound ® is the original name for a pos itional three-dimensional (3D) sound processing algorithm from QSound Labs, Inc.

57 Chapter 8: Basic disc playback Removing a disc Disc playback reminders • If the TV/DVD does not operate properly, static electricity build-up may be the cause. Turn off the TV/DVD, then disconnect the power cord from the AC outlet. Reconnect the power cord, then press POWER to turn on the TV/DVD again.
58 Chapter 8: Basic disc playback Locating a c hapter or tra ck (DVD/ VCD/CD) 1 Press SKIP or SKIP repeatedly to display the chapter or track number you want to play . SKIP : T o locate succeeding chapters or tracks. Playback starts from the beginning of the selected chapter or track.
59 Chapter 9: Advanced disc playback Zoom function/Scene navigation Y ou can change the viewing scale of a picture by using the Zoom function. Once the image has been rescaled, use the arrow buttons to pan the image. Scene navigation options differ depending on th e kind of disc.
60 Chapter 9: Advanced disc playback Scene bookmark Scene bookmarks refer to specific points in the playback range that have been marked for later access. Y ou can create u p to three markers per disc. Note: The saved scene b ookmarks are only accessible during t he current session.
61 Chapter 9: Advanced disc playback Enabling A-B repeat mode (DVD/ VCD/CD) T o r esume normal playback: Press until Off appears on-screen. Note: • In some cases, subtitl es for the repeated scene may not display. • The A-B repeat mode may not apply to some DVD scenes.

Press or to select the playback position you want to change the track input for , then press . 3. Use the Channel Number buttons (0-9) to input the new track for the selected position.
63 Chapter 9: Advanced disc playback Soundtrack language/Audio channel/Subtitle Selecting a soundtrack langua ge (DVD) Y ou can select the soundtrack languag e when you play a multilingual DVD. During playback, press repeatedly until the preferred language track is selected.
64 Chapter 9: Advanced disc playback T urning off the PBC function (VCD) T o turn on the PBC function: Follow steps 1 and 2 above, then press repeatedly until PBC appears. When enabled, PBC allows interactive V ideo CD playback using the remote control.
65 Chapter 9: Advanced disc playback MP3, WMA, JPEG, and Audio CD operation This TV/DVD can play MP3, WMA, and JPEG files recorded on a CD-R or CD-R W disc. T o create the MP3/ WMA/ JPEG disc, you need a W indows PC with a CD-R W drive and file en coding software.
66 Chapter 9: Advanced disc playback About the file br owser (CD) File icons If a CD contains a mixture of MP3, WMA and JPEG files, and is pressed without selecting a file, playback automatically begins starting from the first file in the list. Setting the file type listing Y ou can choose the type of files listed in the file browser .
67 Chapter 9: Advanced disc playback Vie wing a JPEG file (CD) T o ro tate an image: Press repeatedly until the preferred angle is obtained. The image angle is adjusted in 90° increments. The current angle setting is shown on-sc reen: 90° , 180° , 270° , or No rot ation .
