10 EN S400 Getting s tarted What is a SIM card? Every mobile phone has a SIM car d (Subscriber Identity Module). This is a micro-chip that holds your per sonal information such as names and phone number s. Y our phone won’t work without it. If you already ha ve contacts on your SIM card, they can be tr ansferr ed in most cases.

Note: If you enter an incorrect PIN-code 3 times in succession, the phone will requir e you to enter the PUK-code.
S400 13 EN Screen icons: Getting s tarted Signal Strength The vertical bars show the network connection strength. SIM card has signals. New messages This icon shows when you receiv e a new message. SIM Card has an unread message The inbox is ful l. The icon flickers when the inbo x is full and you need to delete messages to r eceive new messages.
14 EN S400 Call func tion The function of the double card: For the sak e of making y our usage convenient, this cellular phone takes a pair of cards functions. Y ou hav e to insert valid SIM card respectively inside the two SIM card seats befor e realizing this function.
S400 15 EN Answering a call: When there is an incoming call, the phone rings and/ or vibr ates and shows the number or the corresponding name. 1. Press the gr een k ey or Answer if you would like to answer a call. 2. Press the end k ey or R eject if you would like to reject a call, or for ending the connection after the call.

S400 17 EN Phonebook: Y ou can use the function of the Phonebook to record much information f or important persons. The mobile phone can save 500 telephone number s.
18 EN S400 Messaging W rite message: Y ou can receive and send Messages: SMS and also MMS. Here you can also choose V oice Mail and Broadcas t . These services are web-based services. Please contact your network oper ator before using. Getting into the submenu and pr essing the k eypad to write a normal message.
S400 19 EN Messaging • T o delete the char acter to the left of the cursor , press Clear . T o clear the screen, press and hold this k e y. • T o switch between upper and lower case, pr ess # indicatedwith:ABC,abc,123 Inbo x: The Inbo x is for s toring received SMS messages.

22 EN S400 Inbo x: The Inbo x is for s toring received MMS messages. Depending on the selected mode, the phone vibrates or rings when you receiv e a new message. And in the standby mode you see the message icon until y ou have read the new MMS message.
S400 23 EN • Filter: Y our phone will r eject or allow MMS of the selected filter criteria. • Memory status: Displays the number of messages saved and the memory space left in the phone.
24 EN S400 Messaging 1. Selectaddress1or2andpressOption. 2. Choose Call voice mail or Edit. 3. If you choose Edit , edit the name and number of the voice mail. After enter the number press OK . In standby mode: Pr ess and hold key number 1 f or directly calling the V oice mail.
S400 25 EN Call history: The phone regis ters the phone number s of Missed, Received and Dialed calls. Y ou can view the call s you Missed, Dialed and Receiv ed.

S400 27 EN Adv ance settings: • Blacklist: Open or close the bl acklist function; T o block incoming calls you have edit in the blacklist. • Whitelist: Open or close the whitelist function; edit the whitelist numbers.
28 EN S400 Organizer Emergency Call: The SOS function is a simple function which can save lives at the deciding moment. In all, you can save 3 SOS numbers (r elatives, neighbours, friends and rescue).
S400 29 EN • Sta tus: Open or close the SOS function. • SOS number: There you can edit and sa ve at most three SOS number in your phone. • Edit SOS SMS: Edit the content of the SOS message which will be sent out automaticly when the SOS function is using.

A fter inserting the Micro SD car d, there ar e two options you can choose: Phone and Memory card . Selec t one of them and you can see the contents as follows: • T otal: The total capability of Phone or Memory card.
S400 31 EN Calendar: Enter submenu of Calendar and you can see the interface of date. Press the dir ection key s to select date and month; press Option to access submenus: Vie w , Vie w all, Add event, Dele te event, Jump to da te and Go to weekl y/ monthly vie w .

If you want to ge t into one network which doesn’t have the r oaming protocol with the original network you ha ve been in, the phone will display the content that you can mak e an emergency call.
