8 . TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE Repairing of th e EXES-5000 s ys te m is basically done b y replacing defective units with go od ones. Th e system's faults i n an installation can be divided i nt o t h e f o l - lowing categories. 1 . Faults i n a n exchange 2 .

8-1. FAULT I N EXCHANGE Before power supply check, confirm the following three points t o eliminate elementary faults: 1 . I s voltage selector set correctly? 2 . I s AC power supplied? 3 . I s power switch O N ? Start checking after disconnecting al l wiring connected t o DC output o f th e power supply unit.
8-2. HO W T O FIND SHORT BETWEEN T-LINE A N D R-LINE I f th e shorted condition between T-line a n d R-line is n o t corrected fo r a long time, it ma y burn out t h e guard r e - sistor (330 , 1/2W) o n th e L M U board. Therefore, find t h e shorted line according t o t h e following procedure: 1 .

Sympton: 2 - 1 A c a n make dialing w i t hout dialing tone. 2 - 2 When B dials A , busy tone or dial tone will b e heard a t B immediately after th e calling tone. LMU Lamps ----- Normal Station EXCHANGE EXCHANGE Symptom 1-1 1-2 1-3 1-4 1-5 A ca n make dialing.
3 . T-Line a n d R-Line a r e shorted or mixed u p. Symptom 3-1 3-2 3-3 A ca n n o t dial. Conversation i s impossible between stations. When B dials A , noise will b e heard at B immediately after the calling tone. L M U Lamps Brighter than normal. 4 .
8-3. FAULT I N S P ECIFIC STATION ONLY Find th e cause according t o th e following ta bl e if th e fault lies with a specific station only, no t with all stations. CHECK-ITEM Dialing can n o t b e made a t privacy o ff mode. LMU Lamp i s off. Specific Lamp on LMU is brighter than normal.

8-4. SPEECH A N D FUNCTION TEST 1 . Speech Test After completing t h e wiring check an d th e power supply and exchange test according t o t h e system flow chart, th e speech test f o r each station c an then take place.
