Y ou can locate the receiv er cell of the satellite receiver b y bringing its remote contr ol as close as possible to the fr ont of the device and trying to change channels.

Connections and initial set up 12 Adding a channel If you want to set up a ne w channel, use the manual search pr ocedure which will enable you to add a channel to the ones alr eady set-up on your D VD r ecorder . The channels already stor ed will not be deleted.

The simplest of these is described on page 15. This uses Scar t-Peritel cables that combine Audio analogue connections for sound, and Video for the RGB image.

23 EN EN Connections and initial set up Remote contr ol The remote contr ol handset supplied with your D VD recor der is a 3 in 1 type remote contr ol. It allows 6 de vices to be controlled: your D VD recor der , a television set, a satellite or cable receiver , a video recor der , an amplifier or another device.

25 EN EN Connections and initial set up Pr ogramming the r emote control If your r emote control does not contr ol your satellite r eceiver (or cable) or your tele vision set you will need to configur e it using one of the two methods proposed: automatic code search or manual pr ogramming.

27 EN EN Recor ding functions Record the cur r ent pr ogramme Y our D VD recor der has recor ding functions similar to a video recor der . It records pr ogrammes on D VD (D VD+R, D VD+R W) type discs. For the same disc, the recording time depends on the quality settings that you can adjust accor ding to the time left on the disc.
28 Recor ding functions Stop recor ding Press the ST OP button twice . • With a D VD+R disc , if you do not ha ve another recor ding to make, you need to "Finalize" the disc in order that it can be r ead by other D VD+R compatible pla yers.
29 EN EN Recor ding functions Pr ogramming a r ecording Y ou can recor d a future pr ogramme by programming its r ecording time. For this you ha ve the choice of manual pr ogramming or Na viclick pr ogramming, explained on page 31. Open the D VD tra y by pressing the OPEN/CLOSE k ey .

Recor ding functions 34 Librar y The librar y function allows y ou to find a title among those that you ha ve alr eady recor ded using your D VD r ecorder and which is on the various D VD+R or D VD+R W disks in y our collection. Y our sear ch is made easier by the title, type , date and disk sorting function.
35 EN EN Recor ding functions Scr olling thr ough the title list Scr oll through the title lists using the or ke y . For each title selected, the recor ding parameters are sho wn in the window (title, date , type , name of disc , number of disc). Once the title you ar e seeking is found, load the corresponding disc in the r ecorder .
36 Recor ding functions Sorting by Date The Sort by date displa ys the most recent titles at the top of the list. All discs This function displa ys the list of all discs in the librar y so that, for e.
Deleting a disc When the Librar y is full, or ev en before if y ou wish, you ma y Delete a disc (and all its titles) in order to mak e space for other recor dings. This function allows y ou to delete in one go all the titles on a disc in the librar y .
38 Pla ying a disc Recordab le discs • D VD+R, D VD+R W - The majority of D VD+R (write once) and D VD+R W (write many) of 4.7 Gb ca pacity with the following characteristics. Recommended brands and types Certain brands of discs hav e been “appro ved” for y our play er .
Other r eadable discs • Audio CDs - Audio Compact Discs (8 and 12 cm). • CD-R, CD-R W - Most CD-R (one recording onl y) and CD-R W discs (re writable). Compatibility is dependent on which D VD writer , writer software and discs ar e used. • Video CD (VCD) - CD on which you can r ecord up to 74 min.

It allows you to edit the r ecordings made and more particularly to: • Insert chapter bookmarks (D VD+R W) T o position marks in order to easily find y our fa vourite passages.

54 Menus Disc menu The Disc menu is only accessible if a disc is inserted in your D VD recorder . This menu allows access to the list of titles of the Disc Title Menu or the images menu of the Pla yer Men u for your r ecorded discs (D VD+R, +R W).
55 EN EN Menus Select fr om the list using the or ke ys and press OK . The menu displa y ed concerns the selected title only . Y ou ma y: Rename Title , allows y ou to change the title that your D VD recorder has allocated y our recor ding (e.g. Pr7 14:39 14-Ma y 2005) by accessing the character chart (page 56).
56 Menus Disc Actions: Rename Disc , allows y ou to change the name chosen by the D VD recor der (Thomson xx) for a name of y our choice selected using a table of alphabetic characters (page 56). Erase Disc , deletes all the titles on the disc. Lock Disc (or Unlock Disc) pr otects the disc against accidental recording.
57 EN EN Menus Rename a disc or a title (D VD+R, D VD+R W) Using a character chart your D VD recorder allo ws you to change the names of discs or titles allocated when the recor ding was made. Select Rename Title in the Rename Title or Rename Disc in the Disc menu using the or ke ys and press the OK k ey .
58 Menus Disc options This menu pr ovides 2 functions to optimise the discs that y ou wish to pla y . 1. Fr om the main menu select Setup using the k eys, then confirm with OK .
59 EN EN Menus Recording Options Men u Y our D VD recor der has sev eral practical functions to optimise the recor ding quality / recor ding time ratio that is possible when using a D VD+R or D VD+R W disc. This menu also allows the VPS/PDC function to be activated for all y our programmed r ecordings.
Menus 60 Selecting Languag es (D VD) Y our D VD recor der gives y ou a selection of languages to choose from. Y ou can change the language of the D VD recor der menus, the language of the disc menus, the language of the dialogues and that of the subtitles.
61 EN EN Menus Selecting the Sub-title languag e for D VD discs Certain discs propose sev eral languages for subtitles. The default language is the the one you selected during installation (page 6) if this language is also offer ed on the disc being pla yed.
Menus 62 P arental contr ol Y our D VD recor der has a child lock function which enables you to r estrict access to certain D VDs. The discs whose content ma y be deemed unsuitable for y our children will ther efor e not be visible unless a code that you ha ve pr eviousl y chosen is entered.
Menus 63 EN EN Ratings limits This function mak es it possible to restrict vie wing of certain D VD discs by pr ogramming a restriction on y our D VD recor der . This function can only be used with D VD discs provided with the function. Y our D VD recor der pro vides ratings limits on a scale of 1 to 8.
Menus 64 System Options The System Options menu in the Setup menu off ers you settings to configur e cer tain useful functions and optimise the performances of y our D VD recorder to match those of the de vices connected to it. 1.
