4 Connections 4.1 Outdoor unit a) Use an a ppropriate coax cable to connect the receiver’s input LNB 1 with the receiving equipment’ s LNB input. Y ou may connect a second LNB to LNB input 2. For further details , see cha pter 5, „installation“.

4.4 Video Cassette Recorder h) Connect the video recor der to the SCART input m arked „VCR“. If the receiver is turned on, press the VCR k ey to play a video cassette. If the receiver is in standb y mode (see 6.1) all audio and video signals are directed to the SC AR T output TV , pro vided the VCR produces an adequate switching signal.

5.5 A utomatic satellite scan The automatic satellite scan f eature only works from W est to East. The follo wing explanation assumes that the reflector has been oriented tow ards the w esternmost satellite (Hispasat 1 at 30° W est in our example) after having set up the East and W est limits (see 5.

6 Operation 6.1 Switching on and off Prefer ably use the power -on switch to turn the receiver on and of f . This saves pow er and the envir onment. For brief operational breaks use the remote control function: > Press to turn on and to switch to standby mode.
6.5 TV/Radio control The pre-progr ammed set of channels consists of 300 television and 200 r adio channels . When receiving a radio channel, the TV screen is turned of f and displays only the channel name on coloured backgr ound.

Y ou cannot select a channel using the keys on the receiver or the k eys of the remote control, once it is deleted. Neither does it a ppear in the list of channels (see 6.2). Deleted channels can only be accessed when enter ing their channel number ov er the ten- ke y keypad.

7.5 Renaming satellites Example: how to rename Astra to Astra 1 > select the Astr a satellite. > call up the channel menu (see page 23). > press to set pointer to „rename satellite“ > press . > select the f ir st letter („A“ in our example).
7.7 Setting up ne w channels If required, y ou can add new channels to the pre-pr ogrammed set of channels. For this purpose, each satellite pro vides blank channel positions (marked b y ********). Example: How to progr amme RTL to channel position 143 (Hotbird 13° East).

7.8 Setting up ne w satellites The pre-progr ammed set of channels consists of 300 television and 200 radio channels br oadcast by the 18 most popular satellites. Those can be set up very easily using the installation menu (see 5.4). Howe ver , the pre-pro- gramm ation also cov ers another 26 satellite names without channel assignations.
