4 Befor e y ou start Loading and ejecting a cassette Remov e all the packaging and pr otective films. Befor e setting up your video recor der , you should ha ve all the following elements in y our possession.

CALLING UP A MENU The k ey on the r emote control calls up the menu which enables y ou to use the featur es of your VCR and to adjust it. 6 Display the control scr een with ST A TUS key and select socket AV1 or A V2 with the A V ke y on the remote control. Connections BASIC CONNECTIONS Disconnect the outside aerial cable fr om the TV set and reconnect it to the RF IN socket on your video r ecorder .
7 VCR set-up Upon completion of the basic connections described on the pre vious page T uning in the tele vision and automatic channel set-up For a ter restrial analogue pa y TV decoder see page 10 1 Pr ess the VCR k ey on the remote contr ol. T o set up your VCR, you will need the user manual of your TV set.
8 6 Press OK k ey . 8 Y ou’ll ha ve to wait a while until this pr ocedure is completed. 4 As soon as you ha ve found the output channel of the VCR, a message comes up on the TV screen.
9 Automatic channel set-up assigns the pr ogramme numbers in a pre-defined or der . These programme n umbers ma y not match the usual order (BBC 1 on Pr 1). When the proposed n umber matches the picture displa yed, press OK to go to the next channel. When the number matches the TV pictur e , press OK to confirm and g o to the next channel.
10 Press W to select the Autosear ch line . If the picture quality is poor: Mak e use of the fine-tuning (</>) with W W , then C C or B B . Pr ess the MENU k ey . The Installation line is already selected. Press OK . Select Man ual set up , and confirm with OK .
11 If you wish to contin ue with channel set-up, repeat steps 2 to 8, otherwise press EXIT . 9 T o switch the VCR or put it into standby: press the B B ke y . Stopping video tape pla yback: Press the ST OP ke y . Pla ying back a video tape: Press the PLA Y k ey .
12 Releasing the pause mode on a video tape: Press the PLA Y k ey . Rewinding a video ta pe: Press the REW . key while in stop mode. Winding a tape forwar ds: Press the FWD . k ey while in stop mode. T o displa y the information scr een (source, SP/LP , counter status): press the ST A TUS k ey .
13 Making an immediate r ecording of a TV pro gramme Press the digit ( 0 - 9 ) or PR+ / PR- k eys to select the TV programme to be r ecorded. Press the REC. ke y with a video tape inserted. T o star t recording, pr ess the REC or the PLA Y ke y again .
14 Pr ess n umber k eys ( 0 - 9 ) to enter the Date of the timer recor ding in day and month f ormat. Use the number k eys ( 0 - 9 ) to enter the star t and stop time. Note: mak e sure that the start and stop times do not overlap another timer recording.
15 Erasing a timer Press the MENU k ey . Select Record timer with W W , and confirm with OK . Press V V or W W k ey until the menu line you wish to erase is selected. Press 0000 k ey to permanently erase the timer recor ding menu line selected. Press EXIT k ey to lea ve menu.
16 Contr olling the TV set T o control the TV set: - press the TV k ey on the r emote control first. T o switch the TV on or to switch into standby: - press B B key . Storing the TV code: - Press the TV k ey on y our remote contr ol. - Hold down the MENU k ey on your r emote control and k ey in one of the follo wing codes: 000 or 001 .
17 T ransition to the y ear 2000 On December 31st 1999 at midnight, the clock of your video r ecorder will switch ov er to the year 2000. Howe ver , should it be disconnected from the mains at that moment, you will ha ve to change the y ear manually .
