2 3 4 1 5 Connections and initial set up 3 EN EN Connecting: D VD pla y er + TV set + VCR If you are only connecting your player to your television set, only car r y out the connections shown in stages 1 and 5. If no Scar t-P er itel socket is availab le on the TV set consult your retailer.
Connections and initial set up 4 Sock ets and cables There ar e several wa ys in which you can incorporate your D VD play er into an Audio-Video system. The simplest of these is described on page 3. This uses Scart-Peritel cables that combine Audio analogue connections for sound, and Video for the RGB image .
Connections and initial set up 5 EN EN VIDEO sock ets and cables (for ima ge) 3 - Component output (Y , P R ,P B ) YP B P R sock ets deliver an optimum image quality due to the separation of the video signal into three separate components (comparable with RGB separation in a Scart-Peritel cable).
Connections and initial set up 6 ST ANDBY/ON - T urns the play er on or off. The light is off when the pla yer is running and lit up when the pla yer is s witched off (in stand-by mode).

When an icon is selected it is highlighted. The line under the banner is an information and instruction line.

Pla ying a disc 16 Camera angles (D VDs) A few D VD discs contain scenes shot from various differ ent angles. If a disc being pla yed back offers differ ent camera angles the icon in the banner will show the number of the angle on the scr een.

Menus 22 Displa y menu The Display menu pr ovides you with settings to adapt the pictur e format and TV standard (P AL/NTSC) to that of your TV set. Y ou can also adjust the brightness of the pla yer’ s display panel and activate the Progr essive Scan function.
Menus 23 EN EN P AL or NTSC TV sets If the picture on the D VD being pla yed appear in black and white on your TV screen, the standard of the video signals transmitted to your TV is incorrect. Change the video signal from P AL to NTSC or vice versa. Select P AL/NTSC then with the OK ke y choose PA L or NTSC .
