12 Connections and initial set up Adding a channel If you want to set up a ne w channel, use the manual search pr ocedure which will enable y ou to add a channel to the ones already set-up on y our D VD recorder . The channels already stored will not be deleted.
13 Connections and initial set up Reinstalling channels (updating) If new channels mak e their wa y into the audiovisual scene , you will ha ve to update your D VD recor der’ s list of channels. In such a case , star t a new channel sear ch from the installation menu.

23 EN EN Remote contr ol The remote contr ol handset supplied with your D VD recor der is a 3 in 1 type remote contr ol. It allows 6 devices to be contr olled: your D VD r ecorder , a television set, a satellite or cable receiver , a video recor der , an amplifier or another device.

25 Connections and initial set up Pro gramming the remote contr ol If your r emote control does not contr ol your satellite receiv er (or cable) or your television set you will need to configur e it using one of the two methods pr oposed: automatic code search or manual pr ogramming.

Recor ding functions 28 5. Destination The default recor ding destination is set for the D VR hard disc. T o record to a D VD+R/+R W disc, change the setting with the key B . 6. Start the recording by choosing Start recor d with the ▼ ke y then by pressing OK .
Recor ding functions 29 EN EN Stop recor ding Press the ST OP button twice . • With a D VD+R disc , if you do not ha ve another r ecording to mak e , you need to «Finalize» the disc in order that it can be r ead by other D VD+R compatible play ers.
30 Recor ding functions Pr ogramming a recor ding or a transfer Y our D VD recor der lets you program r ecordings or transfer . Programming sev eral recordings is really useful when it uses the high ca pacitu of the hard disc, thereby enabling y ou to go beyond the limited capacities of D VD+R /+R W discs.

While a video title (from a video D VD , D VD+R/+R W or D VR har d disc) is playing, you can superpose TV pictures from y our recor der’ s tuner using the LIVE k ey .
Recor ding functions 38 Librar y (disc) The (disc) librar y brings together the names of all the titles recor ded to the different D VD+R/+R W discs in your D VD collection. When the disc librar y screen is displa yed, the titles are listed to the left with one title selected.

40 Pla ying a disc Other readab le discs • Audio CDs - Audio Compact Discs (8 and 12 cm). • CD-R, CD-R W - Most CD-R (one recor ding only) and CD-R W discs (re writable). Compatibility is dependent on which D VD writer , writer software and discs ar e used.

47 EN EN Pla ying a disc Edit Camera angles (D VD) A few D VD discs contain scenes shot from various different angles. If a disc being pla yed back offers differ ent camera angles the icon in the banner will show the number of the angle on the scr een.
48 Pla ying a disc Edit Menu The edit menu can be accessed fr om the information banner while you ar e pla ying a title on a D VD+R W or +R disc or on the internal D VR. It lets you inter vene in r ecordings, especially: • Insert chapter bookmarks (D VD+R W) T o position marks in order to easily find your fa vourite passages.
49 EN EN Pla ying a disc The edit menu functions Insert a Chapter Bookmark (D VD+R W only) During recor ding your D VD recor der automatically inserts electronic bookmarks at regular inter vals. These bookmarks are invisible. They partition the recording and f orm chapters.

61 EN EN Menus Selecting the Sub-title languag e for D VD discs Certain discs propose sev eral languages for subtitles. The default language is the the one you selected during installation (page 6) if this language is also offered on the disc being pla y ed.
62 Menus P arental contr ol Y our D VD recor der has a child lock function which enables you to restrict access to certain D VDs. The discs whose content ma y be deemed unsuitable for your childr en will therefor e not be visible unless a code that you ha ve pr eviously chosen is enter ed.
63 EN EN Menus Ratings limits This function mak es it possible to restrict viewing of certain D VD discs by programming a restriction on y our D VD recorder . This function can only be used with D VD discs pr ovided with the function. Y our D VD recorder pr ovides ratings limits on a scale of 1 to 8.
64 Menus System Options The System Options menu in the Setup menu offers you settings to configur e cer tain useful functions and optimise the performances of your D VD recorder to match those of the devices connected to it. 1.
