4 TASCAM 322 The T ASCAM 322 is a double auto re verse cassette deck primarily designed for continuous playback of background music or tape dubbing needs.

6 TASCAM 322 1 PO WER s witch : T urns the unit on and of f. NO TE The equipment dra ws nominal nonoperating power from the A Coutlet with its POWER s witch in the OFF position. 2 Cassette Compartment : Opens upon pressing the EJECT button. 3 RTZ (Return-To-Zero) button : Fast-winds the tape to a zero reference point selected by pressing RESET .
TASCAM 322 7 M DOLBY NR switch : Selects the Dolby B or C Noise Reduction system or defeats them. When listening to a recording, set this switch to the setting used for the original recording. Dolby noise reduction and HX Pro headroom extension manufactured under license from Dolby Laboratories Licensing Corporation.
8 TASCAM 322 T DECK 2, INPUT and OUTPUT jacks : These jacks are independent from deck 1 all the time. NO TE These jacks are only oper ational when the INPUT/ OUTPUT s witch is set to the SEP ARA TE position.
TASCAM 322 9 Unless you use multiple 322s connected in series, set the OFF/SL V/MSTR switch to the left OFF position all the time. 1. Check to see that the source is connected to the DECK 1 INPUT connectors if you intend to record on deck 1 only or on deck 1 and deck 2 simul- taneously .
10 TASCAM 322 When the tape on deck 1 records up to the end of the re verse side, the tape on deck 2 will start recording, stopping at its end of the re verse side.
TASCAM 322 11 9. T o stop dubbing in NORM mode and exit this mode, press ST OP on deck 2. In HIGH SPEED mode, you can press ST OP on either deck. 1. Connect the amp/speaker system to the OUTPUT connectors of the deck you intend to use. 2. Insert the tape into either deck 1 or 2.
12 TASCAM 322 CPS (Computer-controlled Program Search) autolocates the tape to the beginning of specific program materials. The tape will automatically start playing after completing autolocation. T o identify specific programs, CPS counts a blank space of about 4 scconds between programs.

14 TASCAM 322 W ARNING : Mak e all connections with power of f. 1. Refer to the diagram abov e, and interconnect multiple 322s through the EXT CONTR OL OUT and IN and the CASCADE OUTPUT and DECK 1 INPUT connectors.
TASCAM 322 15 9. T o start dubbing, press PLA Y on deck 2 of the master unit. Deck 2 of the master and all the slav e decks will go into Record mode, simultaneously . The target decks all configure themselv es to the Dolby system and the record le vel settings used when originally recording the source tape.
16 TASCAM 322 9. Adjust the INPUT control on deck 2 of the master so the meter reading is around 0 dB. Balance the left and right input le vels with the REC B AL control. 10. Set the DOLBY NR switch on deck 2 of the master to the desired position. All the slav e decks configure themselves to the le vel and balance on deck 2 of the master .
TASCAM 322 17 All heads and metal parts in the tape path must be cleaned after e very 6 hours of operation, or before starting and after ending a recording session. 1. Open the cassette compartment. 2. Using a good head cleaning fluid and a cotton swab, clean the heads and tape guides until the swab comes of f clean.
