2 ThumbP ad ™ Port able Keyboard Congratulat ions on your purchase of t he T argus ThumbPad ™ Portabl e Keyboard. The ThumbPad is a convenient an d ultra-por ta ble keyboard for the Palm ™ V handheld and IBM Wor kPad ® c3 PC comp anion mobile computers.
3 Windows ® Operating Systems T o instal l the soft ware driv er for the ThumbPad keybo ard on a computer with the Windows ® 95/98/Me/2000 or Windows NT ® 4.0 ope rating sy stem, do the fol lowing: 1 Insert the keyboard software dri ver CD into your notebook or deskto p computer’s CD-ROM dri ve.
4 3 Click Done . 4 T o exit t he Inst all T oo l program, cli ck OK . 5 Connect your mobile computer t o your notebook or desktop computer and synchroni ze to co py the software dri ver to your mobile comput er. After synchronization, the ThumbPad keyboard icon appears in the Applications screen o n your mobile computer .
5 Install ation automatically begins. When complete, you will regain control of the Inst all T ool window . 4 Click Done . 5 T o exit t he Inst all T ool program, cli ck OK . 6 Connect your mobile computer t o your notebook or desktop computer and synchroni ze to co py the software dri ver to your mobile comput er.

7 4 Locate the S tatus opt ion, then t ap the drop-down arrow and select E nable to use, or Disab le to disconti nue use, of the ThumbPad keyboard. From the configurati on screen you can also customize other key board opt ions. For more inf ormation see “Customizi ng the Keyboard Options” on page 10 .

9 Using the Functions Keys Besides t yping normal character s, the ThumbPad keyboard provi des several func tion keys that enable you to access addit ional char acters, opti ons, and commands, which are shown in blue on a key . T o access these featur es, press and hold down the blue Fn key , then t ap t he desired key .
10 Customizing the Keyboard Options After i nstal ling t he keyboar d software drive r on y our mobile computer, you can customi ze it s options thr ough the ThumbPad keyboard appli cation. T o do this: 1 T urn on your mobile computer. 2 T ap the Applica tions i con.
11 The available opti ons are: • Enable Keyboar d clicks — which si mulates typ ewriter clicking sounds when you pres s keys on the ThumbPad keyboard keyboard. T o hear key click s, t ap Enable Ke yboard c licks ( places a check mark in the bo x).

13 I reset my mobile comp uter and now the keyb oard doesn’t work — what should I do? The software dri ver is disabl ed, by default, so ever y time you reset your mobil e computer you must enable the ThumbPad keyboard. See “Enabling and Dis abling the Keyboard” o n p age 5 .
