6 Targus Universal Laptop Docking Station Installing the Devic e and Dr ivers T o use the T argus docking station, you m ust first install the driver onto your computer . WARNING: Y OU MUST INSTALL THE SOFTWARE BEFORE CONNECTING THE DOCKING STATION TO YOUR COMPUTER .

In order to install the driver files properly , you m ust restar t y our system before plugging in the docking station.

11 Targus Universal Laptop Docking Station Connecting New De vices T o av oid possible damage when connecting a new device , do not force the cable connector into the port on the docking station. If the cab le connector does not attach smoothly , tur n the connector ov er and tr y attaching it again.
12 Targus Universal Laptop Docking Station Connecting a Par allel Printer T o connect a parallel printer : 1 Attach the cable connector to the parallel por t on the docking station. 2G o t o Start button of your Window OS, and clic k on Printers and F axes .
13 Targus Universal Laptop Docking Station Connecting a USB Device T o connect a USB device , plug it into a USB port on the docking station and f ollow the additional instructions provided with the de vice. All fo ur USB por ts meet USB High-speed requirements by pro viding 480Mbps and 500mA o f po wer .

15 Targus Universal Laptop Docking Station Installing and Configuring a S/PDIF (Sony/ Philips Digital Inter face) Device 1 In order to enable S/PDIF , y ou hav e to tur n it on. This can be done by opening the USB 3D Sound Configuration applet located in your system tr ay (clic k on the USB icon to open up the Configuration Screen).
16 Targus Universal Laptop Docking Station 4 Plug your optical cab le (not included) into the S/PDIF-Out por t of docking station on one end, and the S/PDIF-In por t of Digital Decoder or Speaker on the other end. 5 Connect your Digital Decode r or Speaker to the Home Theater System.
17 Targus Universal Laptop Docking Station Ta r g u s A l w a y s O n The two USB ports that provide up to 1 Amp of power will continue providing pow er ev en when the laptop is powered do wn or disconnected from the docking station. This allows y ou to charge any USB device y ou connect to these por ts without powering y our laptop.
