General information 1 General informa tion About the Multipoint Control Unit (MCU) The MCU 4500 Series is a range of tec hnolog ically ad vanced and po w erful Multipoint Contr ol Units. The y are designed to combine con tinuous presence a t high definition and the highest possible v oice quality .

4 Co nnecting the MCU Before you star t Step one: Connect power Connect the po w er connector on the rear of the unit to the pow er supply using the supplied po wer ca ble .
Initial configuration 5 Initial configur ation Step one: Connect to the console port 1 Ensure po wer is connected to the MCU and the Status LED is green. 2 Connect the console por t of the MCU to the serial por t of your PC using the blue RJ45 to DB9 cab le supplied.
6 T o configure Ether net P or t A, enter the follo wing for auto-sensing mode: ethertype auto or to configure a speed and duplex, use the follo wing command: ethertype <10|100> <half|ful.
Configuring the MCU 7 Co nfiguring the MCU Step one: Log in to the MCU All administration of the MCU is perfor med v ia the w eb interface. T o log in to the w eb interface of the MCU: 1 Use your bro wser to na vigate to the IP addr ess of the MCU (to disco ver the IP address, r efer to the pre vious section).
8 Step three: A dd endpoints (optional) One wa y to add par t icipants to a conference tha t you cr eate is to ha ve the MCU automaticall y call them when the conference star ts. T o do this, you configure their endpoints on the MCU. When you set up a conference , you can choose the endpoints from the P re- conf igured pa rticipants list.

Using the MCU 11 Streaming conferences Streaming is a wa y of viewing a conference in a standard w eb bro wser . The MCU allo ws streaming of video and, if enab led for a conference , the streaming of data. Y ou can also conduct a text ‘chat’ and add notes and dra wings to the data str eam.
12 Instruc ting confer ence par ticipants Y ou need to tell conference par ticipants ho w to join conferences . Y ou can also tell them ho w to use the Far-End Camera Contr o ls (FECC) to na vigate menus in the auto attendant and choose conference la youts.
