26 Information on D VD recor ding Recording Information This unit can recor d to D VD-R and D VD-R W discs. When recor ding, you will need to select a r ecording fo rmat between Video mode and VR mode depend- ing on the disc format. The disc format for D VD-R is alwa ys “Video format, ” so a recording f ormat will be “Video mode”.

Settings for the r ecor ding format to a blank disc 28 Fo rmatting a disc Recording When inserting a blank disc , the unit starts to initialize the blank disc. After that, Y ou can record to the disc with the recor ding format selected in SETUP menu. Y ou are allow ed to set a specified time for chapter marks.

34 Timer r ecording Recording Y ou can program the unit to r ecord up to 8 programs, up to a year in advance. Daily or weekly pr ogram r ecordings ar e also a vailable. • Be sure to set the clock bef ore making a timer programming. • Insert a recordable disc or a tape with a safety tab .

Hints for timer r ecor ding • If there is a po wer failur e or this unit has been unplugged for mor e than 30 seconds, the clock setting and all timer settings will be lost. • If a disc is not on the tra y , the D VD indicator on the fr ont panel flashes and timer recor ding cannot be performed.

44 Basic pla yback Pla ying discs Note •F or D VD-R (Video mode) and D VD-R W (Video mode) discs which are alr eady final- ized, a title list will be dis- pla y ed instead of thumbnails. •Y ou can resume pla y from where y ou stopped pla ying the disc.
