OPERATING YOUR NEW ZERO TU RN R IDER MOWER CONTROLS • OPERATOR PRESENCE SYSTEM: This m ower is equip ped with an operator’s pres ence system. Any att empt to l eave the s eated positi on with the engine runnin g, without first disengaging th e PTO switch will cause th e engine to shut off.
STARTING MOWER • TO START: Position s teering handl es outward t o neutral lo cked position. Engage p arking brake. Extend t hrottl e to full choke position . Start ignition and sli de throt tle lev er back to full throttl e position. Allow e ngine to warm up for 1 min ute.
MAIN TENANCE SCHED ULE INSPECT BEFO RE EACH USE • Loose fasteners: Be sure all fasten ers are at proper torque. Especi all y guards and blades. • Parking brak e: If brake does not ke ep unit from rollin g, brake must be adjusted or repaired. • Tires: Alwa y s che ck and maintain prop er tir e pressure (See ti re sidewall for recomm endation).
INSPECT E VERY 25 HOURS • Lubrication: Gre ase all pivot poi nts wit h a high temp grease. • Battery, check a nd clean: Keep b atter y termi nals clean and tight. P eriodic charging will extend i ts life. Cl ean te rminals wi th a wire brush and coat with a pe troleum je ll y.
SERVIC E / ADJUS TMENTS TRACKING Adjustments to the unit ma y need to be mad e if t he unit does not track in a st raight lin e. The primar y reason for the un it not tr ackin g straight is incorre ct or unba lanced t ire pressure. Before maki ng an y adjustments first check and adjust the ti re pressure.
REMOVING TH E MOWER DE CK 1. Turn off engin e and en gage parkin g brake. 2. Rotate cut ting hei ght lev er count erclockwise to lo west cuttin g position. 3. Remove bolt from picku p point loc ated at t he front of the d eck. 4. Remove cott er pins on rear hanger poin ts and slide out stabiliz er bars.
LEVELING THE MOW ER DECK 1. Position un it on a smooth lev el surface. 2. For side to side lev elin g, measure th e distan ce from th e floor to th e bottom edge at the rear of the d eck. The m easurem ent should be equal within 1/16 inch si de t o side.
BELTS Clutch drive belt replacement 1. Remove belt covers. 2. Disconnect t ension idl er from t ension bracket. 3. Remove belt from mo wer pulle y and elect ric clutch. 4. Install new be lt onto electri c clut ch and mower pulle y and ch eck for prop er routing and clea rance.
