Setting up - 5 S ETTING UP Unp acking your smartphone Your new smartphone comes packed in a prote ctive box. Carefully unpack the box and remove the contents.

Using your smartphone - 9 U SING YOUR SMARTPHONE T urning on for the first time To turn on your smartphone for the first time, press and hold the power button until the screen turns on. You will th en be asked to configure some settings before you can use yo ur smartphone.

W aking your smartphone If the screen is off and the smartphone does not react to any taps on the screen or front panel button, then it has been locked and is in sleep mode.

Swipe the page to the left or right to see more a pps.When you are on the last page of apps, swipe to the left to see widgets available on your tablet, or tap Widgets at the top of the page.

Long press the AcerRAPID button to launch the camera app. While the camera app is open, press the AcerRAPID button t o take a picture. Short press the AcerRAPID button to launch the Google Play Music app.
Managing contact s - 23 M ANAGING CONTACTS Managing your cont act s Your smartphone features an addre ss book that allows you to save contacts to either the internal memory or onto your SIM card. Tap the Contacts app from the Apps menu or tap All contacts from the Dialer to view your contacts.

Making calls - 25 M AKING CALLS This chapter shows you how to make phone calls, and the vario us options available to you during your call. Before making a call Check that the phone function is on before yo u make a call. You can confirm the phone status from the Notification area.
26 - Making calls Making a call 1. From the Home screen tap Phone to open the onscreen numb er pad. 2. Enter the number you wish to dial. 3. T ap to make the call. 4. T o end the call, tap . If the contact yo u need is displayed, simply ta p the contact name to make a call.
Making calls - 27 V iewing missed calls Missed call notifications are displayed in the followin g three areas: 1. The Notification area with the missed call icon. Open the Notification area and tap the missed call notif ication to display the missed call details.
28 - Making calls Direct dial widget You may add a direct dial widget for a co ntact on your Home screen . Open the Apps menu , then tap the Wi dgets tab.

30 - Messaging M ESSAGING This chapter shows you how to set up and use the Phone messages , Social messages and Social events functions of your sma rtphone. All SMS and MMS messages are accessed via Messaging . Messaging automatically arranges received and sent messages into threads.

32 - Messaging Multimedia messages Multimedia messages are similar to text messages but also allow you to attach files such as pictures, audio or video clips.
Going online - 33 G OING ONLINE Browsing the internet In order to browse the internet with your smartphone, yo u must be connected to a data or wirele ss network. Using the browser To start browsing, open the Apps menu and tap the Chrome or Browser icon.
34 - Going online Setting up Email Your smartphone enables you to access your email. Most p opular ISPs can be set up in two steps. In the Apps menu tap Email to start setting up your email account. If necessary, enter your email address and tap Manual setup to enter the parameters manually.

You can browse the store by category or tap the search icon to search for a specific app. Once you have selected an app, tap the Install button to download and install the app .
Going online - 37 You may keep track of the download progress from both the app’s page and the notification area. Using downloaded apps Once you’ve downloaded and in stall ed an app, you may find it in the Apps or Widgets sections of the Apps menu .
38 - Going online connected, you can open a video chat session. Map s Get easy-to-follow directions using Google Maps, view real-time traffic condition and navigate by using spoken, turn-by-turn driving instructions. Also, view where your fr iends are, places of interest, an d local businesses.
Using the Camera - 39 U SING THE C AMERA Your smartphone features two digital cameras mounted on the front and on the rear. This section will take you through all the steps in taking photos and videos with your smartpho ne. To activate the camera, open the Apps men u and tap Camera .
40 - Using the Camera settings; however, you can still ta ke pictures. Tap the Pause button to temporarily stop recording and tap it again to restart recording.

Using the Camera - 43 Photo You may adjust the following: • Resolution : Set the picture resolut ion. • Set the ISO . • Set a mode as your Favorite Shot . • Continuous Shutter : Se t the maximum number of photos t aken in a single burst. • T urn T ouch to capture on or off: T akes the photo immediately when you tap the shutter button.
44 - Using the Camera • Switch between capture modes fo r front camera with voice commands: • Show picture in picture with voice command: Dual shot • Grid : T urn the composition grid on or of f. • Storage : Choose between Internal storage and SD card .
Using the Camera - 45 • T wo lines display on the screen: a fla shing white line and a solid blue line. As you move the came a, align the blue line to the unmoving white line. The camera app will process the images and save a single extended image to your smartphone’s gallery.
46 - Using the Camera Geot agging Geotagging allows you to sto re the location where a photo or videa was taken right in the photo or video itself. For the geotag to display, pictures must be taken with GPS location info turned on.

AcerEXTEND may have crashed or did not properly shut down, therefore, causing the AcerEXTEND software keyboard to remain as the default keyboard input method.
56 - Using your smartphone with AcerEX TEND Why do I constantly see th e AcerEXTEND ON/OFF warning window? You may be encountering this problem because the driver for th e smartphone's USB debugging inter face was not installed pro perly. Please connect your USB cable t o a USB 2.

Check wi th your airline to make su re this is permitted onboard.
