Setting up - 7 Inst alling a SIM or microSD card To take full advantage of your sma rtphone’s telephony ca pabilities, you must install a SIM card. Additionally, you may wish to increase your smartphone’s storage by inserting a microSD card into the lab eled slot.

12 - Using your smartphone Onscreen keyboards Google keyboard This is a standard on screen QWERTY keyboard that allows you to enter text. Tap and hold a key with numbers at the top to select alternative char acters, such as letters with accents.
Using your sm artphone - 1 3 Predictive text Google keyboard provides predictive text input for the browser. As you tap the letters of a word, a sele ction of words are displayed above the keyboard that continue the seque nce of letters tapped, or are a close match allowing f or errors.

Managing contact s - 19 M ANAGING CONTACTS Managing your cont act s Your smartphone features an address book that allows you to save contacts to either the internal memory or onto your SIM card. Tap the People app from th e Application menu or tap All contacts from the Dialer to view your contacts.
20 - Managing contacts To create a contact, first choose wher e you want to store the contact’s information. You will then be asked to enter the contact’s informatio n, such as name, address, and ph one number. You may scroll down the page and tap Add another field to add things such as: • IM addresses.
Making calls - 21 M AKING CALLS This chapter shows you how to make phone calls, and the various options available to you during your call. Before making a call Check that the phone function is on before yo u make a call. You can confirm the phone status from the Notification area.
22 - Making calls Making a call 1. From the Home screen tap Phone to open the onscreen numb er pad. 2. Enter the number you wish to dial. 3. T ap to make the call. 4. T o end the call, tap . If the contact yo u need is displayed, simply tap the contact name to make a call.

24 - Making calls The voice call screen You can minimize the call window t o appear as a movable dialog instead of a whole screen by tapping the icon. You can even set this "floating" dialog box as the default voice call screen.

26 - Making calls Conference calls If you have one call on hold and another on line, you can combine both calls to create a conference call. After the first call is established, tap to add a second call.
Internet calling - 27 I NTERNET CALLING You can place and receive internet calls o ver a wireless network. Adding an internet calling account From the Home screen , tap Phone . If open, tap the Back bu tton to close the onscreen number pad. Tap the Settings > Internet Call button at the bottom-right of the call screen.
28 - Internet calling Calling a cont act’ s internet calling address You must add an internet calling address to a contact to be able to place an internet call to them. To make an internet call, from the Application menu t ap People . Tap on the contact to open their profile, and then tap o n their internet calling address to place the call.
Messag ing - 29 M ESSAGING This chapter shows you how to set up and use the Phone messages , Social messages and Social events fu nctions of your smartphone. All SMS and MMS messages are accessed via Messaging . Messaging automatica lly arranges received an d sent messages into threads.

Messag ing - 31 Multimedia messages Multimedia messages are similar to text messages but also allow you to attach files such as pictures, audio or video clips.

Going online - 33 G OING ONLINE Browsing the internet In order to browse the internet with your smartphone, yo u must be connected to a data or wirele ss network. Using the browser To start browsing, op en the Application menu and tap the Chrome or Browser icon.

AcerCloud s etup - 39 A CER C LOUD SETUP AcerCloud is a personal cloud service that allows you to access your files over the internet, and make su re your most important files are always up to date. With your personal cloud all your devices (PC, tablet, phone) with AcerCloud install ed can access files on your main Cloud PC.

42 - AcerCloud setup AcerCloud options When you install AcerCloud, you have several opt ions. Select the options that are useful on yo ur PC and click Next to complete the setup: PicStream - Take holiday snapshots on your smartphone and share them with other smart devices.
AcerCloud s etup - 43 You can access and change these settings from the AcerCloud icon in the icon tray. Click on the AcerCloud icon, then select Open AcerCloud to see the settings window.
44 - Using the Camera U SING THE C AMERA Your smartphone features a digital camera mounted on the rear. This section will take you through all the steps in taking photos a nd videos with your smartphone. To activate the camera, open the Ap plication menu and tap Camera .
