12 ELECTRONIC CONTR OL SYSTEM The Electronic Control System of your Sub-Zero Built-In unit monitors and accurately d isplays temperatures within one degree of your preset temperature. It also monitors oper- ation of the unit and lets you know if there’ s a p roblem.
13 PO WER A ll Built-In units feature a U NIT ON / OFF k ey pad on the Control Center . This key pad will turn off all electrical power to the unit. When t he power is off, the OFF indicator light will be visible in the Control Center display panel.
14 SUB-ZER O BUIL T -IN USE & C ARE REFRIGERA T OR ST ORA GE HIGH HUMIDITY CRISPER DRA WER T o remove your high humidity crisper drawer , pull open until the drawer stops. Now raise the front of the drawer and pull it out. T o reinstall, i nsert the drawer into the tracks with the front end raised.
15 DOOR SHEL VES AND D AIR Y COMP AR TMENT The door shelves and dairy compartment are adjustable within the guides of the door liner . NOTE: Glass door models do not have door shelves or a dairy compartment. T o remove a shelf or the dairy compartment, lift it up and out from the bottom.
16 ICE MAKER OPERA TION The ice maker in your Sub-Zero freezer is fully automatic and has been tested at the factory . T o start making ice, activate the I CE ON / OFF key pad on the Control Center . For Models 601F , 611, 611G, 650, 650G, 661, 642, 685, 632 and 695, the ice maker system w ill shut off if the ice bucket is not in place.
W A TER DISPENSER OPERA TION T o operate the water dispenser for Models 685 and 695, set a glass on the water grille of the glasswell, and press and hold the W A TER key pad on the glasswell until the glass is filled. The first time you use the water dispenser , purge the water system and storage tank for three minutes.
18 SUB-ZER O BUIL T -IN USE & C ARE LOCK F or Models 685 and 695, the lock feature is used to prevent unintended ice and water dispensing. When the dispenser is locked, all k ey pads on the glasswell are deactivated to allow cleaning or to prevent small children from using the dispenser .
19 V A CA TION TIME For extended vacations, shut off power to the unit. Empty the unit and block the doors open s lightly . A 1" (25 mm) space will let fresh air in to keep the interior dry and fresh smelling. For short vacations, remove all perishable items.
20 SUB-ZER O BUIL T -IN USE & C ARE CONDENSER F AN MO T OR A ll Built-In models have a fan behind the grille to cool the compressor area. This fan runs with either compressor . A UT OMA TIC DEFR OST Y our Sub-Zero unit is equipped with an auto- matic defrost system.
CLEANING ST AINLESS STEEL EXTERIOR C lassic and platinum stainless steel finishes: T o clean the exterior of the classic and platinum stainless steel finishes, use a s oft, nonabrasive stainless steel cleaner like Signature Polish and apply with a soft 100% lint-free cloth.
22 GRILLE REMO V AL F ramed and stainless steel louvered grilles: First remove the grille screws located at the bottom of the grille. NOTE: Grille screws are a ccessed with door(s) open. T ilt the grille forward at the top and release the springs from behind the grille, then lift it off.
23 CLEANING COMBINA TION UNITS F or Models 611, 611G, 650, 650G, 661, 642, 632, 685 and 695, it is possible to turn off one section of your combination unit for an e xtended period without disrupting the other . First, turn the unit off, then push and hold the W ARMER key pad of the section you want to disable.
24 FREEZER LIGHTING F reezer basket lighting is located below the ice maker and mounted on the back wall of the freezer . T o remove the light shield, gently c ompress the shield to release the top, then the bottom. The bulb is now accessible. T o reinstall the shield, put the bottom in place first, then compress and insert the top.
25 KEEPING FOOD FRESH Y our Sub-Zero unit features our unique dual compressor refrigeration system to keep f ood fresher longer . However , the quality and safety of your food also depends on how you handle it. The information in this section gives you the m ost up-to-date handling and storage recommendations to help you keep food at its best.
26 KEEPING FOOD SAFE T O EA T Most food borne illness is caused by bacteria such a staphylococcus, salmonella, E-coli and c lostridium botulinum, the bacteria that causes botulism. These bacteria grow rapidly at temperatures between 40˚F (4˚C) and 140˚F ( 60˚C), a range that’ s called the D anger Zone .
27 WHEN Y OU PREP ARE FOOD C lean everything that comes in contact with food. W ash your hands for 20 seconds before and after handling food. S anitize counters, equipment and utensils after handling raw meat, seafood or poultry . Rinse with a dilute chlorine bleach solution, one teaspoon to a quart of water .
28 FRESH FOOD ST ORAGE Shelf life of fresh foods varies depending on how fresh it is when you buy it. T o keep your f ood fresher longer , follow the recommended storage tips. V egetables: W ash vegetables in cool water and drain. Store in airtight containers or plastic w rap.

36 There is no ice Is the ice bucket in position? Is the ice maker turned on? Is SER VICE ICE flashing in the Control C enter display panel? See Visual Service Display , page 13. Is the water supply connected? There is an odor inside the unit Clean the unit thoroughly .
