1 Intr oduction Overv iew The S t arT ech.com SV431H, fully comp atible with USB spe cification, is a hybrid U SB and PS/1 keyboard/ mouse/monitor sharing sw itch.
2 Installa tion PC BIOS Notice The followi ng BIOS setup chang es are necessary for PC users using USB and not ne cessary for M ac users: 1. In ST ANDARD CMOS, set HAL T ON ERROR to ALL BUT KEYBOARD. 2. In PNP AN PCI SETUP , set PNP OS IN ST ALLED to YES and set USB IRQ to ENABLE.
3 A d hesive Rubber Feet For desktop o peration, you m ay stick the four r ound rubber feet (supplied w ith the unit) to the bo ttom of the S tarVi ew . Do not use the rubber feet w ith the rack mount option. Console Connection Before inst allation mak e sure all dev ices and computer s to be connected to the SV431H have be en turned of f.
4 • For PS/2 com puters: Connect a “PS/2 Y -adapter”, w hich comes with the un it, to the SV431H PS/2, then use two mini-DIN6 ma le-to- ma le c abl es fo r ke yboa rd and mo use , se e fi gur e bel ow . There are two mini-DIN 6 female connec tors on the “PS/2 Y -adapter” marke d as keyboard and mouse.
5 • For noteboo k computers: I n most case s, all you need is one PS/2 male-to-m ale cable connec ted between the SV43 1H and your Notebook; t he Y -adapter i s not necess ary . How ever , some Notebook computers d o not follow industry-sta ndard, please check your Notebook u ser ’s manual for detail s .
6 Note: Comput ers using a USB ke yboard and mou se are not immediatel y operable when selected during during Auto Scan. Wai t for about three seconds af ter switch ing to a USB compu ter , then use the keyboard and mouse. Hot Key Commands Hot Key co mmands are sh ort keyboard sequen ces used to se lect a computer , to activate com puter scan, etc.
7 • T o adjust t he Scan Rate which sets the d uration before sw itching to the next co mputer in Auto Scan : Left Ctrl + Left Ctrl + F3 The SV431H se nds one to four beeps indicat ing scan interv als of 3, 8, 15 and 30 seconds respectiv ely .
