HAR D W ARE ILLUSTRA TIONS 5 Pla ce wa shers, the end of bolts or screws on the circles to che ck for the corre ct size. Use the small scale to check the sizes of bolts a nd screws.
Pla ce all parts from the box in a cleared area a nd position them on the floor in front of you. Remove all pa cking materials from your are a and pla ce the m ba ck into the box. Do not dispose of the pa cking materials until a ssembly is completed. Read e a ch step carefully before beginning.
ASSEMBL Y INSTRUCTIONS 7 STEP 3 Connect the LOWER CONNECTION WIRE(31) to UPPER CONNECTION WIRE(32). Insert the UPRIGHT(4) onto the MAIN FRAME(1) a nd se cure with BUTTON HEAD BOL TS(M8 x 20mm)(68), LOCK W ASHERS(M8)(78), a nd W ASHERS(M8)(79).
ASSEMBL Y INSTRUCTIONS 8 STEP 6 Install f our "C" size batteries into the COMPUTER(33), f our batteries included. Plug the UPPER CONNECTION WIRE(32) into the COMPUTER(33). Then atta ch the COMPUTER(33) onto the plate on the UPRIGHT(4) with ROUND HEAD SCREWS(M5 x 10mm)(61).
ASSEMBL Y INSTRUCTIONS 9 STEP 8 There is a "L" decal on the LEFT HANDLEBAR(6 ), a nd a "R" de cal on the RIGHT HANDLEBAR(7). Insert the LEFT HANDLEBAR(6) onto th e LEFT PIVOTING ARM (8) a nd secure with ROUND HEAD BOL TS(M6 x 35mm)(66) a nd NYLOCK NUTS(M6)(73).
SET UP INSTRUCTIONS 10 FUNCTION INSPECTION: Visually in spect the EM R ELLIPTICAL to verify that a ssembly is a s shown in the above illustration. Che ck the function of the EM R ELLIPTICAL . Sta nd on the f oot pedals a nd pla ce your hands at a comf ortable position on the ha ndlebars.
EXERCISE WORKOUT 11 T o start using the EM R ELLIPTICAL, sta nd on the f oot pedals, gra sp the handlebars, move your highe st f oot f orward and f ollow the natural path of the ma chine. CAUTION: Do not use ha ndlebars for strength training of upper body .
COMPUTER INSTRUCTIONS 12 BUTTONS: Press to sele ct the function value displays of RPM a nd WAT T , or SPEED and CALORIES. MODE: ENTER : Press to start the selected progra m.

COMPUTER INSTRUCTIONS 14 Displays fla shing "30" f or preseting the AGE for progra ms during setup, from 10 to 99. Displays fla shing "90" for pre seting the T AR GET H.R. in the T arget Heart Rate Progra m, P9, from 60 to 220. Displays the target heart rate of progra ms during exercise.
COMPUTER INSTRUCTIONS HEART RA TE CONTROL PROG RAMS: P9 to P12 are pre set automatic heart progra ms. Y ou must input your age a nd always hold the pulse sensors on the Ha ndlebar with both ha nds when using the heart progra ms. Progra m 9 allows you to input the T ARGET H.
COMPUTER INSTRUCTIONS 16 NOTE: Select the progra m that you desire a nd set the function values to adjust your workout. The dif ferent categories of progra ms operate in different ways but, the computer will guide you step by ste p to setup the progra m ea sily .

How you begin your exercise progra m depends on your physical condition. If you have been ina ctive fo r several years, or are severely overwe ight, you must start slowly a nd increa se your time on the EM R ELLIPTICAL gradually: a few minutes per workout.
22 W ARM-UP a nd COOL-DOW N W arm-up The purpose of warming up is to pre pare your body for exercise a nd to mini mize injuries. W arm up for two to f ive minutes bef ore strength-training or a erobic exercising. Perform a ctivities that raise your heart rate a nd warm the working muscles.
