Section 2 General Information General Information 2-1 MN2418 Thank you for purchasing your Baldor Generator Set. This manual contains information you need to safely and efficiently install and operate your generator set. During the preparation of this manual every effort was made to ensure the accuracy of its contents.

Section 3 Receiving & Installation Receiving & Installation 3-1 MN2418 Receiving & Inspection When you receive your generator , there are several things you should do immediately . 1. Observe the condition of the shipping container and report any damage immediately to the commercial carrier that delivered your system.
3-2 Receiving & Installation MN2418 Physical Location The mounting location of the system is important. It should be installed in an area that is protected from direct harmful gases or liquids, dust, metallic particles, shock and vibration. It can only be installed in an outdoor location so the exhaust fumes are vented to the atmosphere.
Receiving & Installation 3-3 MN2418 Electrical Connections All load connections are made at the panel using electrical cords with the proper mating plug for the receptacle being used. More than one receptacle can be used as long as the total load does not exceed the continuous rating of the generator .
3-4 Receiving & Installation MN2418 Frame Ground Connection W ARNING: Be sure the system is properly grounded before applying power . Do not apply AC power before you ensure that grounds are connected. Electrical shock can cause serious or fatal injury .
Section 4 Operation Operation 4-1 MN2418 Operator Control Panel The Operator Panel is shown in Figure 4-1. 4-2 Operation MN2418 Start − Up Procedure Recoil Start 1. Move the engine’s choke lever to the “Choke/Start” position. If the engine is warm or if the ambient air temperature is high; try starting the engine without choking it. 2. Move the Control Panel Engine “ON/OFF” switch to “ON” (if equipped).

Appendix A PG6000 Connections Powerchief R Series A-1 MN2418 Caution: The brass connecting tab on some 120V AC duplex receptacles has been removed. Each receptacle is powered by a separate generator winding. When replacing a receptacle, inspect the brass tab that normally links both receptacles.
